He listened to what my wife & I were looking for, including some final details like having a roof with usable space and as our current roof is low profile he explained why he had designed the extension in a certain way. What we love most about our work is seeing an idea turn into something real, helping clients take a vision they’ve been thinking about and transforming it into a space they can actually live in, work in or grow from. Being part of that journey is genuinely rewarding.
We also thrive on solving complex design challenges. Every project brings its own constraints such as challenging sites, unusual layouts, planning sensitivities, structural limitation and we enjoy finding smart, practical solutions that unlock the full potential of a property. Turning a difficult brief into a clear, buildable and well-designed outcome is one of the most satisfying parts of what we do.
The mix of creativity, technical problem-solving and real human impact is what keeps us passionate. And because many clients find planning and construction overwhelming, we take pride in guiding them through the process, making it clear and manageable. Seeing their confidence grow and watching the final design come to life is what makes this job meaningful every day.
What inspired you to start your own business?
Cannon Clarke Group Ltd was created because we saw a real gap in the industry: clients were either getting great design with poor technical follow-through, or solid technical work with very little creativity or communication. We believed people deserved both.
After years of working within traditional practices, we realised we could offer a more personal, transparent and hands-on service by doing things our own way. We wanted to build a consultancy where clients feel genuinely supported from day one where their ideas are taken seriously, their questions are answered clearly, and their project is treated with the care it deserves.
Starting our own business allowed us to combine strong design thinking with practical, buildable solutions, all while offering a level of reliability and responsiveness that many clients weren’t getting elsewhere. Our motivation has always been simple: to deliver better experiences, better outcomes and buildings people are genuinely proud of.
