Billie took over walking our dog Angus a few months ago when his old dog walker had to cut back her days. At first we were a little apprehensive as he had been with the other dog walker for a while but we were soon put at ease. It’s clear she loves the dogs and the dogs love her! What do you love most about your job?
What I love most about my job is watching dogs come out of their shells and grow from shy or nervous into happy, relaxed and confident dogs. Seeing that transformation and knowing I’ve played a small part in it is incredibly rewarding.
They say, “You’ll never work a day in your life if you do something you love,” and that’s exactly how I feel. Every single day I get to do something I’m genuinely passionate about, and I know not everyone can say that.
Whether it’s watching the dogs run wild and free (quite literally!), playing together, splashing in a pond, or stopping to sniff every interesting scent along the way, seeing them happy, content and enjoying life never fails to put a smile on my face.
I also love being outdoors. Spending my days exploring beautiful woodlands, breathing in the fresh air, staying active and being surrounded by nature is good for my mind, body and soul.
I’ve loved animals for as long as I can remember. I grew up in a family where I was taught that every life matters, and that belief has stayed with me ever since. Caring for dogs isn’t just my job—it’s something I truly feel privileged to do every day.
So when people say to me ‘You have the best job!’ I couldn’t agree more.
What inspired you to start your own business?
For many years I worked in finance, but I never truly felt fulfilled. Deep down, I always knew my passion was working with dogs—I just had to wait for the right time to take the leap.
During COVID, while working from home, I started offering home-from-home dog boarding. It quickly grew through word of mouth, and before long I was caring for dogs from all over Berkshire and the surrounding areas. The wonderful reviews and returning clients I’ve received over the years had given me the confidence to turn my passion into a full-time career.
So in 2024, I left my 9-to-5 job to focus entirely on Walkin’ Wild ‘n’ Free, expanding into dog walking and daycare alongside my boarding service. It was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.
Now I wake up every day excited to do a job I genuinely love. Looking after dogs isn’t just my business—it’s way more than that, and I feel incredibly lucky to spend my days giving them the love, care, adventure and enrichment they deserve.

Choosing someone to care for your dog is a huge decision, and I never take that trust for granted. I understand the anxieties and worries that come with that.
When your dog is with me, they’re treated as one of the family—not just another booking. I take the time to get to know every dog’s personality, routine and individual needs so they feel safe, comfortable and genuinely excited to see me.
I believe dogs deserve more than just a walk around the block. Every adventure is packed with opportunities to explore, sniff, play, socialise and simply enjoy being a dog. My goal is for them to come home happy, fulfilled and ready for a well-earned nap!
For owners, I know peace of mind is just as important. That’s why I keep you updated with regular photos, videos and messages, so you can see exactly what your dog has been up to while they’re in my care.
Above all, I genuinely care. Every dog that walks through my door is loved, respected and cared for as if they were my own, and I hope that’s something both you and your dog will feel from the very first meeting.
