Tom is an outstanding guitar teacher who truly understands how to connect with his students. His lessons are engaging, well-structured, and tailored to my goals and skill level. Whether it's mastering the basics or tackling more advanced techniques, Tom always explains things clearly and patiently. Not only is he incredibly knowledgeable and skilled, but he also makes learning enjoyable with his passion for music and friendly approach. Since starting lessons with Tom, my playing has improved significantly, and I’ve gained a lot more confidence. I started guitar lessons with Tom as a 69 or 70 year old ( I can’t remember the exact date) absolute beginner. I asked Tom if he would take on the challenge of teaching a pensioner and he was very positive and encouraged me to have a go. I struggled with the fretwork from day one due to arthritic fingers but Tom was so supportive and showed me alternative ways to achieve the same chords. Unfortunately I will never be a proper guitarist but I will be forever grateful to Tom for his perseverance and patience. He is a great teacher and I heartily recommend him. More...

Having been a guitarist for going on 13 years now, I can say with confidence that since starting lessons with Tom, I've never enjoyed the process of both learning and playing guitar more than I have right now. Our lessons are tailored specifically towards me and are structured with a good balance of theory and practice, but there's still plenty of scope for me to request a specific song to learn or technique to look at. Tom's passion for his instrument and teaching is obvious and irresistible. I always look forward to our lessons and the next song, technique or point of theory I'll be learning. Thanks Tom! More...

Tom is a tremendously patient tutor, goes at your own pace, but also pushes you when you need it but gently and within the confines of your ability . He was my tutor for about 2 years and whilst I aint no David Gilmour, I felt infinitely more confident in my previously non existent abilities than I dared to wish. On top of all that he is a very nice chap. Highly recommended. More...

Tom has been teaching my teenage son for the past couple of years, I cannot thank him enough for his support. Tom is more than a guitar teacher, lessons are perfectly tuned to ability but so much more importantly to the person he is teaching. My son thoroughly enjoys his time with Tom, not only the learning but also conversations they have about music and the occasional political debate. Tom is a genuinely super good guy with an amazing talent to teach. More...

My daughter (12yo) has been learning electric guitar with Tom for the past 9 months and loves it. He is a calm and patient teacher who has been able to tailor the lessons to suit my daughter's ability and musical preference. She is making really good progress and is learning a lot of skills during her fortnightly lessons. Tom was kind enough to recommend a suitable first guitar and has given us lots of tips of where to find affordable accessories to further her learning. We would recommend Tom to others looking to learn the guitar. A friendly, relaxed approach to teaching - a lovely guy! More...

I've been having weekly lessons from Tom Elliott since June 2022 (Nov 2024 as I type), and during that time I've improved dramatically. Tom lets you work on your own choice of music, and guides, directs, corrects and improves your technique as you go. He also gets you to set your own practice and improvement goals for the next lesson, but doesn't give you the third degree if life or work has got in the way by the time your next lesson rolls around and you haven't got as much practice time as you expected. Highly recommended. More...

Tom is an excellent guitar teacher who is not only a commited musician but also a genuinely nice guy. Tom's biggest asset is the genuine interest that he shows in people. This is reflected in his lessons where students get excellent results quickly.

In addition Tom's dedication to teaching and providing quiality lessons is shown in the great facilities that he has. He essentially dug a new room in the basement of his house in order to provide even better lessons and kitted it out with the latest equipment to enhance the learning of students.

All in all Tom is the kind of guitar tutor that I wish I had when I was younger and I wholeheartedly recommend him to others looking to take the next step in progressing with guitar.

Q&As

Seeing my students develop in to the guitar players they want to be is why I teach guitar. It is the most enjoyable and rewarding job I have had the priviledge to do. I have seen how the learning of the guitar (and other instruments) can change peoples lives and give them a rewarding hobby or the potential of a new career.

I started my business during the last recession. While Jobless and facing a tired and unfulfilling job interviews, I decided to set my self up as a guitar teacher and try out a new vocation, which gave me the rewards and freedom I was looking for. I set up my business with a small government loan, I searched out one of the UK's best mentors who would help me become a professional muscian. It has turned out to be the best career decision I could have made and I love it.

This is a full time profession, so my students recieve a professional who is only interestred to their musical development. I provide a dedicated studio where all lessons are given. Most importantly I focus on the indvidual, I do not give out generic advice and I give students the best techniques to help them play. Everyone learns at their own pace. I do not pressurise students, unless I need to, lessons are meant to be as much fun as possible, without compromising the standards of teaching and learning.
