Experience has been exceptional. My 4 year old terrier/poodle has improved dramatically since we saw Callum. Her behaviour towards other dogs was very challenging and resulted in us both being very tense during and after walks. Seeing dogs on tv saw her barking uncontrollably and her general obedience was poor. One visit from Callum and all that has changed. I can walk her anywhere with little to no problem. Callum was absolutely fantastic with our very hyperactive young Belgian Malinois x GSD, who had some issues with lead reactivity and over excitement. After our session with Callum she is doing so great, the things we were taught are making such a big difference to her already, and have even had a huge positive impact on other non ideal behaviours throughout her daily routine. With Callum’s methods we are now at the point of almost no barking or reacting at all on the lead, and a much calmer time passing dogs and people in areas where we would have had a hard time previously. Contacted callum online initially for a consultation however after meeting him and seeing just how incredible he was with our dog we hired him instantly! Our dog was doing assistance training and had behavioral and over protective issues that caused me and my child extreme anxiety and callum was incredible with the training and also building up our confidence in our dog, we now have a totally different even happier dog, who can socialise, act appropriately, be in various environments, walk properly with a wheelchair, the list is endless! Callum helped us with our 7 month old Rough Collie pup who had various anxieties (eg stairs, the lead, grooming, separation anxiety), reactivity to other dogs and new people (not aggressive but highly exciteable, pulling on the lead, jumping up, saying hello to everyone, human and dog) - Callum spent lots of time with us and listened to us closely, observed our pup with us indoors and outdoors/walking), gave his assessment, then spent time teaching us how to address the issues and how to support her longer term development, and included a lot of breed specific knowledge and information - our pup is now 11 months old and all of Callum’s advice has been so helpful to us and pup has made really good progress in all areas. I used Callum because I had a nervous 8 month old German Shepherd and I was terrified of taking Kleo out. Callum came to our rescue and from the first day with Callum I was at ease he was absolutely brilliant with me and especially Kleo he helped us amazingly. He explained everything took time with us and even told me the proper lead I should be using for Kleo. I am still working with Callum and Kleo has come on leaps and bound and my confidence in taking Kleo out has improved immensely. Our 1 year old Labrador had an extreme phobia of the stairs in the house, Mac wanted to come upstairs but was not confident enough to get his back legs off the ground. After 1st visit from Callum Mac was going up and down the stairs but wouldn’t do it after he left. Callum came back for a 2nd visit 3 days later, Callum didn’t even have to ask Mac he just followed my husband and I up and now goes up and down without any problem. Contacted Callum for advice and help with Chianne my 7 month puppy. She loved going outside to play in the garden and going for walks but just hated going down stairs from the front door, we struggled to make her take her time and her pulling was getting difficult. Callum arranged to come and see us and said that within one session he could change her pulling and getting her using the steps . Oh my goodness , how amazing , he firstly taught her to wait and not rush to the front door when the bell rang or if she heard any noises , this helped so much , we could answer the door without her pushing in front of us. And after several times of teaching Chianne and myself 😊 how to walk up and down stairs there is no pulling. Can’t thank callum enough with helping our dog who was so scared and anxious regarding going out for walks. Before contacting Callum we tried everything to get our dog walking outside, we even started her on anxiety medication from our vet to help with her going outside. Callum spent time getting to know our dog and observing her behaviour. We have literally only had two sessions with Callum and our dog is walking again on her lead. Callum from The Dog Life has been an invaluable source of help and information in the training of the new addition to our family, our little Rottweiler puppy, Nala. Before finding him Nala was very playful and liked to chew when playing with her toys and us! This was something we needed to stop as we have a two year old in the family. After one double session and following Callum’s instructions, within a matter of days I could see her becoming less mouthy and now it’s only when she is extremely over excited she may have a wee slip up, but responds straight away to the training methods we have been shown. Particularly,with the breed of dog we have, it’s very important to me that we have her fully trained and following instructions fully and with the improvement and changes i have seen in her in the few sessions we have had, I am confident with The Dog Life we will get Nala to the standard of training she needs to be at! I am so much more confident as a dog owner on how to handle Nala and what to do in different scenarios and what is the most important things to focus on from the get go. We had Callum round for an initial consultation. It was pricey but we were paying for his time and it took us a few hours to explain our issues and chat through some ideas to try resolve them. We had planned for some further sessions if I felt we needed them and if the initial advice wasn’t working. Callum replied to a text I’d sent following on from our conversation and then after that nothing. I was hoping for some training sessions as we had discussed. I text, called, emailed and even enquired on his website because I got no replies. This was extremely frustrating as we had invested our time in him and spent time explaining the issues with our dog. I also think it was extremely rude to not answer. I think if Callum didn’t think he could help he should have replied saying that and not just completely ignored me. I had also recommended him to a friend who had a very similar experience - initial consultation with some training for her puppy with plans for a follow up and she never heard a thing. Callum is fantastic with dogs. He has really helped us with our German shepherds anxiety and assertiveness. Would highly recommend if you are thinking of using him, he really knows what they are thinking and has taught us a lot about our dog that we didn't know.
