Wendy invited Christie my DLH cat to visit Shampooches for a grooming session. Christie is very shy and only comes for cuddles when she wants them so I was slightly anxious to see how she would react. Wendy is the most chilled person that I think her quiet composure put Christie at ease, Christie was so good. Calm enough to have her fur combed, removing knots and making her coat shine. Clipped claws and trimmed pads, she really had a good pamper. Wendy was calm, caring and knew what tools to use to make the experience as stress free as possible. I’ve just collected my 15 year old dog from this place. I was surprised when they only took an hour to groom him but when I collected him I understood why. He has been shorn. There has been no attention to detail at all. His poor face has been clipped to nothing and his legs and all of his body have just been shorn!!! He had a lovely tail which is bushy when brushed but that’s just been cut off! £60 For this is disgusting. I am furious! I know he’s an old boy but he’s been groomed 6 times a year for 15 years and I know he’s very good at being patient when he’s groomed. I should have said something in the shop but to be honest I was so shocked at the state of him I just wanted to get out. Quite clearly this was a rush job..in all of those 15 years it’s never taken less than two hours to be groomed. Yes, I’m angry, I’m furious. What a total disaster More...

What do you love most about your job?
I love being a dog groomer because every day is different. I enjoy building trust with dogs, helping them feel comfortable, and seeing the difference a good groom makes to their health and happiness.
What inspired you to start your own business?
Becoming a dog groomer started with my love for my 2 dogs, but it quickly became about so much more. I’ve always been drawn to the bond you build with animals, especially nervous or shy dogs that just need patience and kindness. I love knowing that a grooming appointment isn’t only about making a dog look good — it’s about helping them feel comfortable, cared for, and happy. Seeing a dog leave relaxed, confident, and wagging their tail is what makes this job so rewarding for me.
