Consumer Units / Fuse Boxes
Also Known As Fuse Boxes Or Fuse Boards
At SG Electrical we can upgrade, replace and install consumer units for both residential and commercial customers.
We will always make sure that the consumer unit is safe, secure and meets the latest building regulations.
Before any installation, replacement or repair of any existing consumer unit, its advised to test your existing electrical wiring to check it's up to date with the latest standards.
Once completed we will issue a full installation certificate alongside notifiying your local authority (part p ) and issue our full guarantee.
FUSE BOX OR FUSE BOARD
These fuse boxes were the most common safety device, they contain fuses that melt and cut the power whenever an electrical issue in certain circuits occurs, unfortunatley it can take a couple of seconds for the fuse to melt and break the electrical circuit.
This may seem insignaficate, but it greatly increases the risk of fires and electrical damage.
CONSUMER UNIT
Newer and safer consumer units also disconnects the electrical circuit if the power in the home rises too a high potential. Difference is that consumer units can detect electrical faults instantly and cut off the power, making the system much safer. After the power is cut , the circuit breakers do not need to be replaced like fuses-just need to be flipped back on.

We are fully qualified, licensed and certified by NAPIT and registered with the competent persons scheme.

EICR Electrical Installation Condition Report
SG Electrical will provide both residential & commercial customers with an EICR. This includes EICR Certificates, Landlord electrical safety certificates electrical safety reports to ensure your fixed wiring installations meet British Standards BS7671.
Much like an MOT for cars it is important that you ensure you carry checks on the condition of the electrics in your home.
This will help identify any faults or defects which could require improvement and will ensure the continued operation of the installation in a safe and effective manner.
What Is An EICR Report? An EICR certificate is issued after the assessment of an electrical installation. a report will identify any electrical defects, Deterioration or dangerous conditions. It is generally recommended that an EICR is carried out every ten years ( five for privately rented properties) or when there is a change of occupancy in a dwelling.

EV Car Charging Charging Your Vehicle At Home
Charging your electrical vehicle at home is where the majority of your charging will be done. Depending on the installation SG Electrical can help you select a suitable charging unit.
We will consider a few key issues to dertimne whether you can have an EVCP at home or whether you have somewhere suitable to locate the charge point and your EV ( Electric Vehicle ) which its charging & whether it is safe to add an EV to the demands on your electricity supply
