Gary and all the team were exceptional at integrating into our busy daily lives, keeping us informed all the time, happy to explain each process to complete novices, happy to listen to many, many ideas and requests & all the time maintaining complete professionalism and warmth.
Our end product is stunning. We are notoriously fussy, but Gary’s attention to detail is faultless.
Keith and Gary were always on hand to query anything or to ask advice.
We were blown away at how quick the loft, Dorma & ensuite went up. Six and a half weeks from start to finish. The team are absolute grafters! Plus they fitted all new internal doors throughout the house.

I can’t recommend Prestige Loft Conversions enough, we are so pleased with our loft conversion (large bedroom and a separate bathroom). We had Dave and Kaiden with us daily from the beginning, they were absolutely brilliant and a pleasure to have in the house. The rest of the team came and did their bits along the way, also excellent! The work is exceptional and the house was left so clean and tidy every day. Keith, the owner, is very honest and straight talking which we really appreciated. He kept in regular contact, checking-in that we were happy with everything along the way. We asked for some additional work to be done during the process, Keith got back to us promptly with a quote and arranged for it to be done, nothing was too much trouble. Keith and his team have made every effort to go out of their way for us with our loft conversion. We had been recommended them from friends of ours and we have been so pleased with that choice. There was a reassuring period to wait as they are so good they were booked up for a bit. Time ticked by and then boom. Suddenly the scaffolding was up and soon it was all guns blazing. Through the hottest weather we have had they just cracked on with such speed but also precision and skill. Always polite, fun and kept everything tidy at the end of each day. It has been a genuine pleasure having them come and work for us and seeing how quickly our house was transforming. Keith was always on hand to project manage where required and any issues he would diligently work on solutions. We still have painting and flooring to do but we are thrilled with the end result. How can someone tell if their Garage is suitable for conversion?
There are some main issues with garage conversions.
Initially the question is whether a garage conversion is permitted. Some newer developments have covenants restricting converting garages.
If permission is going to be needed from the Council they do look at parking issues. You may need to prove that you have two parking spaces on your
property. A guide size is 4800mm x 2400mm though do check with your Council.
Look at access from the main property to the garage. Is this achievable?
In most cases the garage floor needs to be raised for insulation and flooring purposes. Will you have the necessary headroom.

Run us through the different stages of the Garage conversion process - what's involved?
Firstly are you allowed to carry out works. It will at minimum require Building Control Regulations in place.
We usually get stub joists in place first. This will take the new floor.
To create dwarf wall to the garage door opening.
Install electrical & plumbing services.
Install floor , install an assumed window to the garage opening above the dwarf wall.
Insulation and plaster boarding.
If new doorway into the main property this cut out as late as possible. Lintel inserted.
Plastered and then second fix electrics and plumbing.
Depending on size about 7 to 10 working days.
How can someone tell if their loft is suitable for conversion?
From the top of the loft ceiling rafters see if you have about 2400mm to the apex of the roof. When you stand in the loft bear in mind that the floor needs to be raised and the rafters increased in size. A little common sense will prevail. If unsure always ask for a free survey as this will determine for you.
Run us through the different stages in the loft conversion process - what’s involved?
As an overview we need to construct a new capsule within your loft and this complying to Building Regulations. This strengthens the floor
and roof rafters and allowing for extra required insulation.
Services need to be run through for all plumbing and electrics. In some cases cold water storage tanks needs to be taken into account and
preferably removed. The latter by either using a pressurised hot water tank or by installation of a Combi Boiler.
Stairs are towards the end of the project.
A loft conversion takes anywhere from four weeks to ten weeks depending on size and complexity.
What do you love most about your job?
I love the challenge of creating a new loft area yet trying not to compromise the floor layout below. All good conversions should appear as if they were always there and not something that detracts from the original home.
