Ziggy (my Border Collie) is crazy smart but used to completely lose his head the moment he saw another dog or, worse, a squirrel. I couldn’t get his attention no matter what I tried. We sent our Staffy, Blu, to Orange Ridge’s 3-week Urban Masterclass with Jake to work on his lead reactivity and the difference has been huge.
Blu used to bark and lunge at anything that moved. Walks were stressful, and we were losing confidence. Jake’s approach was clear, calm and honest from the start.
By the end of the programme, Blu was walking with much more control and focus, and we finally had the tools to handle tricky moments. The handover was super helpful, and we feel like we’ve got our dog and our walks back.

Mowgli boarded with Tom for 3 weeks and had the absolute best time! I got daily update videos of the mischief my little rascal of a dog got up to and Tom handled him expertly. We used Orange Ridge this winter (2024-5) whilst away on holiday a couple of times. The team did a fantastic job of taking care of Nala. The communication in the run up to and during his stay was great - lots of photos and videos so you can see what fun they're having. Tom, our trainer, was excellent. He was extremely generous with his time from the outset to really understand our dog’s personality and behaviours. It took a few days for our dog to settle being away from home in a new environment, and during this time Tom gave us multiple updates, and adapted his training plans to allow our dog to settle. We could tell Tom is a seasoned professional from his approach, and after a few days our dog was happy and content in Tom’s care. He has come back more settled, calm and obedient (which is what we were training for). We had professional trainers help us in the past from pup stages but this time it feels like very strong foundations have been set in Tom’s care, and Tom gave us great guidance on how to continue building from this. Tom was absolutely phenomenal with our little dog, Henry. We sent Henry, our cavalier King Charles here for the board and train urban masterclass for 7 weeks this December/January and as you can imagine we were very nervous to leave at first. However, we were quickly at ease when the team offered to do a trial weekend to see how Henry would get on and when they recommended Tom specifically because of his experience working with spaniels. Tom was so communicative, not just in how Henry was doing with training and what they were working on each day, but also with general updates on Henry and the sweetest pictures of Henry at the beach, getting lots of cuddles, and even how he was eating every day. It was such a relief to know he was so loved during his stay truly as if he was Tom’s dog. We sent Henry to training because he had become impossible to walk on lead, and when off lead he would run away. Not only are both issues fully resolved, but Henry is also now far more mentally stimulated with playing all sniffing games Tom taught him, and he is so proud of the commands he knows. Me and my family can’t thank Tom @ Orange Ridge enough!! We booked a two week course for my 8 month old Cavapoo puppy and then a follow up week in around a months time for a little top up and for Tom to see what we have been doing right and how we can improve in order to achieve the best results for our Vinnie. The communication from Tom and the way him and his family looked after Vinnie was absolutely faultless! Vinnie looked so happy in every picture and video we received. Of course we had the usual suspicions as to whether firstly Vinnie would be safe and looked after due to all of the scammers out there but I can assure everyone your doggy will be in the safest hands and all of our worries were quickly eradicated! Secondly we were worried if we would see results due to investing a lot of money into the courses and all I can say is the transformation has been PHENOMENAL. The handover was extensive so we knew what to do once we got our pup back and the after care has been second to none with all of our questions answers, explanatory videos and phone calls, we have even being reassured that Tom would come back out to us for a 1:1 if we needed it. Tom is an absolute asset to Orange Ridge and we will always be grateful for the changes he has made in Vinnie and we will sure be back for top up courses and boarding with him.
