I reached out to Harry for my Structural Drawings after reading positive reviews about him on here. I told myself if I had a positive experience I’d make it a point to write him a review, and here I am! From the first phone call I had with him I found him to be calm, he listened, and always gave measured responses. Some outcomes id like to share which will hopefully paint a picture:1. Our project is a total ground up New Build and has challenges regarding a sloping ground level, pitched roof, and varying internal floor/ceiling heights. This is our first self build project so a lot of learning for us. Harry was happy to explain all aspects of the Structural Drawings to us in plain English (even drew pics on his notepad to explain Underpinning!). There was a Vertical column in middle of the open plan which I wanted removing and replacing with a larger longer single Horizontal beam. Harry considered this option but recommend against it as though it was possible, it could have compromised the structural integrity of the building and also would not have made it financially viable. Instead he applied a pragmatic approach of moving it and hiding it within an internal wall.2. When getting quotes from builders, two made a comment on how thorough the drawings were and allowed them to quote more accurately.3. A survey for the installation of the steels took place today. The surveyor asked me if the person who did the Structural Drawings was a friend or relative (I replied no) because he said (his words) “he’s done an awesome job one that only family or a close friend would do”. He said there is a tendency for Structural Engineer's to err on the side of caution and oversize beams/columns but Harry has not.4. Harry is a family man and does have his boundaries. There were occasions when I’d end up calling/messaging him at unsocial hours (my bad), but Harry would always get back to me on or before the date he’d given me, and would message if he couldn’t get to the phone.Overall my experience with Harry has been positive but to have professionals who are in the trade also being impressed is an even bigger positive.Thanks and hope this honest review helps you.Mits More...
