What do you love most about your job?
I thrive on helping people and making a positive difference, and bookkeeping does exactly that. Lots of business owners come to us stressed, with their books behind and deadlines looming. Getting everything up to date and taking that worry away is really satisfying.
The best part is the ongoing relationship. Wiebke and I become part of our clients’ teams, like having their own accounts department. Their books are always up to date, they know where they stand, and they can get on with running their business, knowing we’re by their side.
What inspired you to start your own business?
In life, we all need someone who understands our worries and frustrations, someone we can tell the truth to. When everything’s out in the open, we can sort our problems out. It’s the same in business.
In 2014, I joined a branding agency that was in serious trouble, with a turnover of £250k and debts of £250k. Within 18 months, we’d turned it around and paid back every creditor. It showed me how much a business owner needs someone working alongside them, not just handing out advice and leaving them to get on with it.
That’s why I started HiThrive in 2017. Our bookkeeping works the same way. We’re not a faceless service. We become part of your team, keep your books up to date, and help you understand where your business stands.

We’re not a faceless service. We become part of your team, like having your own accounts department. We charge by the hour rather than a fixed monthly fee, so we can do as much or as little as you need. At year-end, we work with your accountant so the handover is quick and easy.

Yes, all of our services can be provided online, and we already work with clients right across the UK. We use Xero for your books, Hubdoc so you can send us receipts and bills from your phone, Dropbox for sharing documents securely, and Zoom when it’s easier to talk face to face.
