From the outset Gary was extremely professional and offered a realistic quotation whilst ensuring that all aspects of the job were covered. His tradesmen were of the highest standard and were clearly, by some measure, the best workmen I have ever had the pleasure of having at my home. When an unexpected problem arose, Gary and Valentin were extremely supportive and adjusted the terms of the work at the drop of a hat To say that I am totally satisfied would be an understatement. Obviously I would recommend Gary and his team without reservation. More...

We had an insulated flat roof installed at our property under a government grant scheme by GRS Insulation. Unfortunately our experience has been very disappointing. After the work was completed we experienced multiple problems including water coming through a bathroom light fitting, which actually filled with water and caused damage to the ceiling. We also had water entering the boiler cupboard affecting the electrics, which resulted in a power cut and the boiler shutting down leaving the house without heating. Although engineers attended and carried out some repairs to the roof and restored the electrics and boiler, further problems have continued. Water is now running down the front of the house due to the threshold drainage being too close to the property and is coming in through the front door. There are also still outstanding remedial works inside the property including repainting the damaged bathroom ceiling and replacing the light fitting. The property is tenanted and there is a vulnerable child living in the home, so these issues have been extremely concerning. We are currently waiting for the company to provide a proper plan and timescale to fully resolve the problems caused by the installation. More...

From the initial contact about a survey, to the survey itself (and several, subsequent and very reassuring chats with Graeme) to the day of the install (can’t remember the two installers’ names but they were both friendly and skilful), GRS were fantastic. Our EPC said cavity wall insulation (assumed). Turns out it had none! Bonded bead installed today with a 25 year guarantee and we couldn’t be happier. Has made an instant difference to how our home holds onto heat. Highly recommended!! More...

Communication within the company should be improved among employees. The left hand frequently did not know what the right hand was doing. Information gathering systems were not optimal. We received numerous emails and telephone calls about the same paperwork. There was a lot of unnecessary duplication. Most of all, we were given the wrong information which led to disappointment when the promised improvement could not be carried out. More...

In January 2025 we were seriously let down by an insulation company based in Wolverhampton. After nearly nine months of constant heartache we finally managed to get our money back. We looked around for a local company and were recommended to use GRS Insulation Limited and we have never looked back. They inspected the loft area and advised us on the work to be carried out. They also advised us to approach the local council for a possible grant which was approved. Since day one the company have always been upfront and most importantly honest. The guys who came out and did the actual insulation, installation of the two air vents and loft entrance and boarded area were excellent. Finally to the team in the administration office who were always at the end of the phone if we had any questions and even paid us a visit on a counter of occasions. Thank you one and all for being such a star team. More...

Providing high quality installations, helping customers save energy, money and the planet!
Cavity Wall Insulation Installation
If your home was built after the 1920’s there is a high chance that it has got cavity walls.
It was only in the 1990s that homes started to be built with insulation within the cavity at the time of construction. If your home was built before then you may not have any insulation at all.
Around a third of heat lost in a home is via uninsulated walls. Figures from the Energy Saving Trust show that you could make significant savings by insulating your walls – around £395 for a typical gas heated semi-detached house.
There are a couple of different types of cavity wall insulation used, however, the one we use involves the injection of graphite enhanced polystyrene beads into the gap between the inner and outer walls.
By filling the gap between the two walls heat loss through the wall is slowed, resulting in a warmer home for you. By having a warmer home you will also reduce the likelihood of condensation and mould on the walls.
The polystyrene beads also means that the cavity can continue to work in the way it was originally intended. This means that any moisture which finds its way into the gap is able to safely wick away and not reach the inside of your home.
All cavity wall insulation completed by GRS Insulation comes with a 25 year insurance backed guarantee for peace of mind.
Failed or Contaminated Insulation Removal
Over time the condition of insulation deteriorates and needs to be removed. GRS Insulation are fully accredited and insured to remove many types of insulation and, where required, replace the insulation with a new, often more efficient, insulant material.
Loft Insulation
As heat rises, around 25% of the heat lost in your home escapes through the roof. One of the quickest and easiest ways to save money on your energy bills is to top up the insulation in your loft.
According to the Energy Saving Trust, a gas heated semi-detached house with no insulation could save £355 on their heating bills per year.
As well as making your home warmer in the winter, loft insulation will also help keep your home cooler in the summer.
Loft insulation is made up of layers of either mineral wool or glass fibre matting and will last for around 40 years, paying for itself many times over.
We will first lay insulation between the joists of your ceiling and then again in the opposite direction to provide you with a minimum of 270mm of insulation.
Not only could you save hundreds of pounds per year, but you will also reduce your carbon emissions. A typical semi-detached house would reduce carbon emissions by around 610kg per year.
External Solid Wall Insulation
External wall insulation is mainly installed on solid wall properties, but, is also suitable for cavity wall properties in areas where there are high amounts of wind driven rain.
Around a third of heat lost in a home is via uninsulated walls. Insulating your solid walls will not only cut your heating costs significantly but will also make your home more comfortable.
Figures from the Energy Saving Trust show that the savings you could make by insulating your solid walls are around £540 for a typical gas heated semi-detached house.
External wall insulation is completed by installing a layer of insulation material to the outside of your property as shown in the mid-photo below.
External wall insulation also gives your home a fresh new look. The insulation can be covered with a range of finishes including textured, smooth, painted, pebble dash or even finished with brick slips to make it look like you’ve got a brand new brick wall.
All external wall insulation completed by GRS Insulation comes with a 25 year insurance backed guarantee for peace of mind.
Flat Roof Insulation
As heat rises, around a quarter of the heat lost in your home escapes through the roof. Many flat roofs have been constructed with either no or very little insulation. If your home has either a full flat roof or an extension with a flat roof we can upgrade your flat roof with insulation. As well as helping reduce your energy bills, you will also benefit from a new roof covering.
According to the Energy Saving Trust, a gas heated semi-detached house with no roof insulation could save £355 on their heating bills per year.
As well as making your home warmer in the winter, flat roof insulation will also help keep your home cooler in the summer.
Flat roof insulation involves installing a layer of insulation on top of your existing roof to provide you with a Warm Roof.
We will lay insulation of around 120-150mm over the existing roof felt before installing a a plywood deck and new weatherproof membrane above this.
Not only could you save hundreds of pounds per year, but you will also reduce your carbon emissions. A typical semi-detached house with a flat roof would reduce carbon emissions by around 610kg per year.
Roof Room Insulation
As heat rises, around 25% of the heat lost in your home escapes through the roof. One of the quickest and easiest ways to save money on your energy bills is to top up the insulation in your loft.
Many loft conversions and purpose built rooms in the roof completed prior to the 1990’s were either poorly insulated or not insulated at all. The consequence of this being that many households find that the space is too cold in winter and too warm in summer.
According to the Energy Saving Trust, a gas heated semi-detached house with no insulation could save £355 on their heating bills per year.
As well as making your home warmer in the winter, room in roof insulation will also help keep your home cooler in the summer meaning that your room in roof will become more usable throughout the year.
Room in roof insulation involves insulating all parts of the room with either mineral wool batts (similar to loft roll), loft insulation or rigid insulation boards.
An example of how these different elements can be insulated is shown above.
Not only could you save hundreds of pounds per year, but you will also reduce your carbon emissions. A typical semi-detached house would reduce carbon emissions by around 610kg per year.
Internal Solid Wall Insulation
If your home was built before the 1920’s there is a high chance that the external walls are solid.
It was only after World War One, in the 1920’s that cavity walls began to become the main building type and was originally done to stop moisture penetrating from the outside to the inside of the wall.
Internal wall insulation is completed by fitting either rigid insulation boards to the wall, or by building a stud wall filled with mineral wool fibre.
The choice of materials is dependent on the construction of your home and any other works that you may have had completed previously. However, our preferred choice of material for internal wall insulation is filled studs as this allows the property to keep breathing as it was originally intended.
All internal wall insulation completed by GRS ECO comes with a 25 year insurance backed guarantee for peace of mind.
