We got married in April 2026 at Old Street Tavern in London, and Urban Wedding Collection recommended Fizz and Groove to us. We are absolutely thrilled we took their recommendation, because Gary was brilliant, everything we wanted and more from our wedding DJ.He spoke with us before the wedding, and ran through our "must play" songs for the night. We also ran through our "please don't play" songs, and even though I went slightly overboard with this (sorry again!), Gary didn't mind at all and on the night, delivered EXACTLY what we wanted.The guests loved the music so much, and we loved every single song. He knew exactly what vibe to match, and when to play the songs we wanted the most - All The Things She Said springs to mind lol!We would not hesitate to use Fizz and Groove again. We had a disappointing experience with the DJ at our wedding reception.Before the wedding, I created two detailed playlists for him: one through the company’s website and one on Spotify. They were the same playlist, and I also included notes on the website explaining why certain songs mattered and when we wanted them played.I told him multiple times that we wanted him to stick to the playlist.Unfortunately, that did not happen. He only played a small number of the requested songs early in the reception and then continued to deviate from the playlist. We had a mix of slow songs, upbeat songs, pop, R&B, and classics selected so everyone could enjoy the night. Several of those songs had personal meaning, including slow songs dedicated to specific people, which were clearly listed in the planning form.During the reception, my groomsmen also asked him more than once to stick to the playlist, but many of the requested songs were still missed.At the beginning of the night, he asked if he could freestyle and play some songs he liked. I told him maybe later in the evening, after the playlist had been completed. That instruction was not followed.The frustrating part is that we tried to make everything as clear and easy as possible. We provided the playlist in two places, gave notes, and communicated our expectations multiple times. The music was important to us, and we felt like our preferences were not followed.If having your specific songs played is important to you, I would strongly recommend making sure the DJ and company are fully aligned before booking.******** UPDATE ********I usually would not add more to a review, but the response after my initial feedback made the experience more disappointing.After I shared my concerns, the owner contacted me through WhatsApp and focused more on defending the DJ than understanding why we were upset. The response I received made me feel dismissed rather than heard.I was also told that my message to the owner was shared with the DJ, and that the DJ discussed the situation with guests at the wedding. From my perspective, that was not appropriate and made an already frustrating experience feel even more uncomfortable.The owner also made a comment along the lines of, “You hired a DJ rather than an iPod and a set of speakers.” I understand that a DJ brings professional judgment to an event, but we were very clear that our playlist mattered to us. We were not asking for something unreasonable. We were asking for the music we selected for our own wedding to be played.To be clear, we never asked for a refund. That was not the point of the review. What we wanted was accountability, respect, and acknowledgment that our experience did not meet expectations.Weddings are personal. The music is not just background noise. It is tied to memories, family, friends, and moments you do not get to redo.This experience left us disappointed, both because the playlist was not followed and because the follow-up communication made us feel like our concerns were being argued with rather than taken seriously. My partner and I booked Fizz and Groove to play at our wedding and I would highly recommend them. We initially reached out to Gary in April, who was very approachable and quick to reply, which made the booking process very straightforward. Closer to the event in December, Angus, our DJ for the wedding, arranged a call where we discussed our ‘must play’ songs for the night, as well as the vibe we wanted for the party. On the evening itself, Angus was fantastic in helping us coordinate our entrance to the party and our first dance; he then played a brilliant set. Where to begin! Gary (and Luc) were so responsive, helpful and friendly from the very first interaction. We ran into some hiccups with the venue which was slightly stressful but Gary couldn’t have been more reassuring and made sure we still had the best experience. Music was a huge part of our day and Luc who was our DJ nailed it. Luc was so receptive to our wants and “do not plays”. He created the perfect mix for our first dance and the dance floor was never not full. The setup and lights were brilliant as well!
