I'm currently working with Max on training my 3 year old GSP and 10 year old Vizsla. I asked her for help as our little GSP is a recent rescue addition to our family and needs all the necessary training and our 10 year old has some behaviours we'd like to improve on. She has been absolutely amazing. She spends time listening to your needs and concerns and has a practical approach to help both you and your dogs achieve the desired results. All positive training but lots of common sense too. Max is very in tune with our dogs behavior and has put my worried mind at rest on multiple occasions. Thank you to max for helping to train our 7 month old puppy, she is full of knowledge and really helpful. We contacted Maxine due to feeling overwhelmed about our dog who was going berserk at the door when people visited and was not listening to what we wanted him to do. We were considering getting our dog castrated to see if this would help in calming him down! But following advice from our vet, we had no guarantee that this would solve our problem and would potentially change our dog's personality for the worse. We were advised to try behaviour therapy (as such) for our dog and contacted Maxine at Dog Tails! Prior to Maxine visiting we had issues with our dog (Blue) dashing to the door, jumping up visitors, barking when the door bell rang and had high levels of anxiety when people visited the house. Maxine listened to our needs and with her skills and knowledge of dog behaviour, helped us to rapidly improve Blue's behaviour by working with us to explain why he may be doing the things he was doing and helped us identify some of our responses that were maintaining some of our problems. Maxine maintained excellent communication with us, via emails and text giving us information and videos on dog training tips throughout her work with us. We now have a dog that does not respond to the door and visitors as he did before. Maxine taught us strategies to manage his behaviours that were causing us concern. She is super approachable and family orientated, which suited our needs really well. This has really changed our life and we are all less stressed now as we confidence to know what our dog actually needs. Many thanks for all your input Maxine! I would definitely recommend Max at Dog Tails, she's amazing. I needed urgent help with my anxious pomeranian Lilly who I had from rescue in 2022. Things were getting so bad with her I was getting worried and didn't know what to do, then I found Max, thank god I did. Max knew exactly what was wrong with Lilly from the moment she saw her. Turns out shes suffering from PTSD (pre rescue). And helped me over the course of the training sessions. 5 weeks on and Lilly is a lot calmer and less anxious. Max has been amazing with our dog. she listened to everything I had to say and helped in every way she could. My dog struggled with new people and other dogs and gets really anxious. He loved max, he was so excited everything he saw her! My dog was scared of other dogs after a dog had ago at him, he then thought it was okay to bark/growl at other dogs to protect himself. Max taught us ways to help him keep calm and that he was okay. she also taught me to be calm in situations instead of panicing when a dog came by us. Rico know plays with dogs and can go for walks without feeling anxious. we got to a point where we stopped taking him to places so he wouldn't be so anxious. know Rico goes everywhere thanks to Max!!! we are so greatful and appreciate her help so much and have recommended her to our freinds. xx More...

Max was great, she has really helped with our one year old Labrador puppy who pulls on the lead. Max really listened to our needs and what we have done/tried so far. After a visit to the house and a walk with Max we have some really helpful tips of what to do next. Even the change in lead which was recommended by Max we have already seen an improvement. Mars was a rescue puppy, who at 13 weeks was coming to his third home. He had no exposure to rules and boundaries and being a typical teenager was boisterous and reactive to everything. Maxine is fantastic at her job! She has helped us so much and we do everything she teaches us everyday and our lab pup has got so much better in and outside of the house. Maxine has been a brilliant help for us and our lab puppy! She has helped us to understand him more and to learn different ways to help us with walks/visitors coming to the house and the pesky teenage stage! Everything Maxine has taught us we have continued doing and our pup has just got better and better as the days have gone on. Working with Max has been the best thing we have done since having our dog! She has been amazing! Max is a kind, intelligent and friendly person who made training calm and enjoyable.
We really struggled and began to not enjoy taking our dog for a walk because of the strength of his pulling, but with the help of Max we are now more confident and actually enjoy taking our dog for walks; even taking him to new places! We initially needed Maxine’s help for our oldest mini dachshund who had an issue with pulling on the lead/barking at other dogs.
The first day we met Maxine she was brilliant with Louis and we quickly noticed a change with him after the first session. She taught us techniques to distract him from the other dogs on walks and Louis picked this up very quickly!
I was very nervous to take Louis and our other mini dachshund Bailey out into open spaces as I was worried they would run off. Maxine gave us so many tips and tricks to help us take control of our dogs and make sure they were listening to commands. On our last session to our surprise our dogs were off the lead running around a big open space! We were so shocked but so happy that all of Maxine’s help had paid off. I would never have been confident to let them off the lead if it wasn’t for Maxine, and our dogs have been brilliant with the training which I never thought would happen as they used to have a tendency of never listening! I never thought I’d see the day our dogs were off the lead and I felt confident they would come to me when called.

Maxine was absolutely amazing with our golden. She had so much patience and was always very motivating for our dog. She made every lesson fun and effective and managed to get all our goldens bad habits out of her in a matter of a few sessions. If you’re even half contemplating a dog trainer then I cannot recommend Max enough. She’s less of a dog trainer and more of a life saver!

We brought Max in for our seven month old Golden Retriever, Reggie to help with his recall. On the whole, Reggie was pretty good (or so we thought) but the second he saw another dog- no matter how far away- he was gone and wouldn’t come back until he had said hello. This was less of an issue if the dog was friendly but on three occasions he had approached very aggressive dogs that had tried to do him serious harm and I was half a field away with my other dog trying to catch up. We were genuinely terrified of what could happen.

Max had completely transformed Reggie and the methods we have learned through his recall are making him an all round better behaved dog as he’s far more engaged with us. Now when he sees a dog, even just a few feet away. He calmly lays down and waits for instructions- we’re no longer having our armed ripped out of our sockets while he leaps towards them or running across a field screaming “he’s friendly” as he bounds towards whatever dog has caught his eye.

Going from one dog to two was harder than we thought and at times we were despairing thinking what have we done. Now we’re loving our walks out and getting so many compliments on what a wonderfully well behaved dog we have. I cannot thank or recommend Max enough. She was non-judgmental, practical and logical in her training and everything seemed so obvious when she explained it. I only wish we had brought her in sooner. More...

Maxine was super friendly, down to earth and non-judgemental with our puppy american akita cross husky, who we were having issues with leaving for even short periods of time. She was very patient when the pup was jumping around excited that someone new was in the house. She went through different techniques and thoroughly explained them & that made it easy to know what steps we had to take once she had left. We were also having huge issues with crate training & Maxine was more than happy to help us. Within a couple of weeks of following the advice given, our pup improved massively! We still have a way to go but he is getting better and better each day & I honestly cannot thank & recommend Maxine enough! If I could give more than 5 stars, I would! More...
