My daughter has been taking guitar lessons with Dave since 2022, from the beginner to heading to grade 8, over the years, I can say that Dave’s passion for music is infectious and he creates a relaxed, encouraging learning environment. Besides, Dave is patient, and really skilled at explaining techniques in a clear and motivating way.

I found Dave very professional and encorouging as a novice to Music playing. Also reading sheet music as, understanding the Staff, recognise notes and rests, understanding time signatures and associating notes with the guitar strings.

Dave is the guitar teacher you want to have! I've been taking online lessons with him for about two years, and it's been such a positive experience. He's incredibly patient — even when my progress has been slow or my practice a bit patchy! He follows a well-structured syllabus that builds skills step by step, but he's also very flexible and happy to help you learn any piece you’re interested in.

Dave is a very thorough Guitar teacher interjecting a good amount of music theory relevant to each session. This knowledge builds up slowly and makes the understanding of music theory easier to understand.
Dave is very patient and takes much time in making sure good technique and understanding of each parts of the lesson is understood.
So sometime slow but better as the knowledge and technique is ingrained
We are leaning music reading and basic guitar practice rather than stumming and learning popular songs which will enable my long-term guitar playing to be much more accurate and will give me a better understanding of music and my guitar.
I am early states in my guitar leaning but I feel I understand more and I have improved each week.

Before starting lessons with Dave, I had been (inconsistently) teaching myself for a few years – I knew a few chords, but that was about it. Sheet music, and the notes on the fretboard were a mystery to me. Ultimately, I didn’t really know what I was doing and I still remember telling Dave that I just wanted to be ‘sick’ at guitar when we first met.

Now, as I approach year 4 of weekly lessons with Dave I can read sheet music, and play classical up to Grade 5. Maybe this qualifies as ‘sick’ but I intend to keep going until Grade 8 anyway. I have found the progression to be gradual but entirely manageable, with realistic goals alongside my full time job. He provides a structure that I thoroughly lacked when I was teaching myself. No doubt, without Dave I’d still be fumbling around chords and reading tabs.

If you’re feeling bored or unmotivated, he’ll be able to find a new piece to revive your interest. His feedback is also clear and considered. He’ll boost your confidence in the things you do well, and encourage you with the parts that you struggle with. Now retired, started weekly session with Dave, now moved to fortnightly sessions with flexibility on day & time.
Understanding tutor, using zoom is good.

Dave is good teacher and my daughter looks forward to the lessons every week. She has been with Dave for 2 years and is now in Grade 6.

Dave teaches all three of my kids: 15, 13 and 8yrs old. He is brilliant with all of them! They love learning the guitar with him and he gives them each what they need: the 15 year old is learning acoustic and he helps her long songs she wants to learn to strum and sing along to.
