Dreadful experience from the start - I used Scott for some scaffolding for a rental property. When he initially quoted he asked what the property was, I confirmed it is a 3 bedroom terrace and he quoted a price without asking for any further info/ photos.
When he arrived to erect the scaffolding he told me it was a bigger job than he thought and charged me an additional £300, I wasn't very happy but needed the scaffolding so agreed to it.
The initial rental was for 4 weeks, unfortunately we had some delays (our fault) and I messaged Scott at the end of the 28 days (27 March - 23rd April) to ask whether we could extend for 1 week, he agreed for an additional £250 (which seemed reasonable). After the week I assumed he had been to collect the scaffolding until I heard 3 weeks later from the tenants that it was still up at which point I messaged Scott to ask why he hadn't been to collect it. This is where the real problems started, he promised he would be over early the following week to collect it, it got to Tuesday and I chased him and he promised to be there on Thursday/ Friday, got to Friday afternoon, I chased him again and he claimed his van had broken down (I said it would have been nice if he'd let me/ the tenants know), the same thing happened on Monday and Tuesday the following week before it was eventually collected on the Wednesday, over a month after it should have been.
When I spoke to him on the phone he agreed the service wasn't good enough (due to the van breaking down) and he would refund me the £250, I thanked him for the gesture. However, when I chased him for the refund he said he wasn't giving it to me claiming some of the scaffolding was missing (no evidence) and that it'd cost him £300 for a van rental (nothing to do with me?!).
He was also verbally aggressive on the phone telling me I was a pen-pusher, had spoken down to him, he was a working class man and "see what happens" if I put a bad review on bark.

Upon arrival it became clear that additional materials and labour were required, which was discussed and agreed before any work was carried out in which you agreed upon The scaffold remained in place beyond the original hire period at your request, and an extension fee was agreed. Despite the delays in collection, the scaffold continued to be available for use throughout that period. Until informed by yourself we would not attend to dismantle until a phone call, txt message or email confirming this. We acknowledge that there was a delay in the collection of the scaffolding and unfortunately circumstances beyond our control affected our collection schedule, which was explained to you and in this circumstance, you weren’t understanding, very abusive and billeting over the phone and through messaging. We take photographs on completion on every job we do and when we arrived at the property ladders and scaffolding boards were missing, It is the responsibility of the hirer for any loss of or damage to the scaffolding structure caused by negligence or wilful act or default of the hirers, agents or sub-contractors or other persons for whom the hirers are responsible. The hirers shall pay the full replacement value for the scaffolding materials. The hirers, agents or subcontractors DO NOT carry out any addition, alteration, adaptation to the scaffolding structure or interfere with it in any way. This is a breach of contract and health and safety law. Regarding the refund, this was discussed subject to the condition that all hired equipment was returned and accounted for. Concerns were raised about missing items, which needed to be resolved before any refund could be considered and, in this case, they couldn’t and as the hirer it was your responsibility to obtain all equipment on the property. As you can see, we always aim to resolve issues fairly and professionally and, on this occasion, we were unable to reach a mutual satisfactory outcome. We pride ourselves in our work and our customer service as you can see from our multiple reviews we have collected and resolve disputes efficiently as and were possible.
