Update on the saga that continues with Alan Crombie and AMC Fencing and decking
14 weeks now since our work was done and not completed.
Still waiting on the slabs to be fixed properly, the decking to be completed and the rubbish removed which was all promised would be sorted out.
Alan has now disappeared and is ignoring all calls. The only way you get him is if you call from an unknown number and he answers that.
We are now taking this up with trading standards and HMRC. We will also be taking legal action within a matter of days as he ignores all correspondence from trading standards.
Anyone who has also experienced the same issues with this company please feel free to contact us and report your issues to trading standards and HMRC.
He really should not be allowed to trade as more people will experience the same. Use your hard earned money on a reputable company not Alan Crombie and AMC Fencing and decking.

My whole experience of working with AMC was positive from start to finish. Alan was very quick to respond to my request for a quotation and when he first visited was professional, friendly and extremely efficient, giving me a very reasonable quotation inmmediately.
I accepted the quotation on a Monday and he began work on our new fencing the next day. He and his colleage Mark both worked hard to make a good start on the fencing having been kind enough to fit us in whilst also continuing another larger job elsewhere.
The job eventually took two days to complete (which was very fast for the amount of work needing to be done) and both the guys were really positive and communicative about every step of the work - always happy to talk anything through and answer any questions.
The final product, a partial fence around the perimiter of my property, was better in look and quality than I had even expected. I am really pleased with the way Alan and Mark approached and completed the work and would highly recommend AMC to others.

THIS IS OUR EXPERIENCE WITH ALAN
We contacted Alan as we were looking for new decking and Indian sandstone slabbing in our garden which also included removing all rubbish ( old decking and slabbing) terms 20% upfront the rest payable on the day the job finished. We have a fairly big garden so it was an expensive job.
The work took 4 days, Alan had 3 people working on this each day.
We paid our 20% deposit upfront and actually paid the balance probably within 20 minutes of them leaving on the last day which was a Friday. BIG MISTAKE
We did however have some issues with certain areas of the work most notably the slabbing which is poorly fitted at some areas and also the decking has gaps in a lot of areas, we were told it had to be like that to help with ventilation. Somehow I don't think this is correct!!
Now we get on to the part where Alan shows his true colours.
He did come back with one of his team to fit the slabs but this guy did the decking not the slabbing so where there are gaps he put some kind of mortar down and said oh don't worry this will be fine. IT'S NOT ITS A MESS!!
We are also left with a load of rubbish ( old slabs) which we cannot move as they are far too heavy to put in our car. We were promised they would be picked up but he is now completely ignoring us.
The thing about Alan is when you first contact him he will respond almost immediately even when the work is being carried out.
As soon as he has your money then forget it he's gone. He does not respond to any messages or calls. We even had to resort to calling him from a different number. He answered that straight away. When we asked him when he was coming back to fix the issues he said we were speaking to John and he wasn't on our job so we should call Alan on Monday. Funnily ( or not funnily) John had the same mobile phone and voice as Alan. He also knew every single detail of our garden which is odd if this so-called chap John wasn't even involved.
We did call Alan on the Monday and after several attempts he called us back but only because we messaged him to say we would be leaving a bad review about his business. He was very annoyed and said I will fix your silly little slabs. Unbelievable choice of words coming from a man that runs a business fitting slabs.
We are still waiting on the silly little slabs being fixed and rubbish being removed.
A scam indeed was starting to appear.
We have attached photos which show anyone looking that the decking has gaps and poor finishing. The slabs you can see where they have been filled with mortar at the side of the grass. This should have been finished properly and not just ramming some mortar into the gaps. We can actually put our fingers under these slabs. The gaps are that big.
The most frustrating thing in all of this is Alan's attitude towards everything now that he has our money. He is quite frankly a horrible person that has no respect for anyone or even his own business.
He does not send proper invoices either which I find very odd as well.
We told him at the very start everything had to be 100% as we are the people living here and would have to look at everything for the next 5 to 10 years and he gave us his word he would make sure everything was toa very standard. Shame on you Alan.
SO PLEASE ANYONE READING THIS DO NOT GO ANYWHERE NEAR AMC FENCING OR DECKING BECAUSE YOU WILL REGRET IT!!

They came and fitted new gate and posts but you can't close the gate from outside the garden, I have phoned several times and Alan said I'll come round tomorrow well tomorrow hasn't arrived, he was paid well for the job £550 and get treated like shit.
I've used Team Bark before but I will don't think I will use you again if it's cowboy outfits you use.

Friendly guys, but with a little more care and attention, a poor 30 metre fencing job, which had to be largely re-done, could have been a lot better.
The fencers lacked basic materials, which would have made their job a lot easier. By basic, I mean a spirit level and a string line, would have saved the fence rails from having to be taken off and re-done.
Following completion, and after my final inspection, I found there were approx 240 slats with at least 1 screw missing and in many instances 2 and some 3 missing, approximately 350 fixings in total, which I had to complete myself.
Needless to say I received no response to my texts requesting the work to be finished. Reading other reviews, this seems to be a common complaint. Very unprofessional.
Generally, a poor show. 3 stars is possibly on the generous side.
