George turned up quickly and on time, we looked at the job which was weeding and maintaining paths, mowing the lawn and verges and cutting back some shrubs, small trees. He was polite and keen and the quote came back quickly (over £3K) and George said he could do the work with several men in the timescale set. It seemed fair given the amount of time and materials George said he'd need. All good so far. He asked for money to buy a large amount of stone and weed killer to start the job - over £1K. He was very pushy at this point and I should have listened to my gut. But I sent the money as I really needed the job done in the short window I had. He then planned to do the job, after the date he'd been to site he asked for the remainder to be sent £2K. I don't live at the property and asked for 2 weeks to pay so I could come up and see the work. I explained it was sensible to do this as we'd never worked together before and its normal. He'd only shown me a couple of photos to prove work was done..the cut lawn and a short piece of path. I felt I could not agree to pay the rest with that evidence. He then got very threatening, sent me a picture of a dumper and said he'd be going to my house to take back the stone. I had guests there and could not let this happen, I had to protect them. I agreed very reluctantly to pay him enough so he could pay 'the men' who had done the work and kept back £1k. He'd agreed not to go up to the house if I did this. I have a cleaner who went up and she said it was neater, which yes the lawn was cut and a few bushes cut back, it was slightly. I stupidly did not ask her to walk all the paths and did not explain that the job had involved a lot more than cutting grass and a few bushes! This was my error and I so regret not holding my ground. I arrived at the house yesterday and immediately saw no wedding had been done, no weed killer had been put down or weeds/verges maintained, worse still no stone at all had been put onto the paths, they are still bare and weed matting still appearing in many places. Basically George said he's done the work 100% but had done less that 5% of it. I'd worried the job may not be up to standards agreed but had no idea it would just not be done at all. When challenged he immediately said he'd come up and make good. Trying to say its his obligation and I should let him. But there is no way you'd trust someone to do this who has been so dishonest. I asked for the money back which is my consumer right, offering to pay for the little work he'd done plus a bit more. It was a more than fair offer given the circumstances. I said I'd hold off reviewing him till today to give him some time. He became aggressive and threatened me again with lawyers and even to review my holiday home negatively which is absurd and corrupt as he's never stayed here. He has now gone silent and I know I will have to take him to the small claims court to get the money back. The reviews on this page do not reflect what sort of guy he is, he lied, took money with seemingly no intention to do the job agreed and I'm not sure how he thought he'd get away with it. Prompt service and quote given and then worked started .Excellent job done on the cutting / reshaping of row of bushes professionally done and have never looked so good ! All cuttings etc swept up and taken away and there was zero mess left .Thanks again More...

They advised me on what I needed and I left them to do the job I had instructed. They left my place neat and tidy having completed the job and kept me informed of the time it took.

Attendance and price given without delay - work started on time - neat and friendly team. Work was first rate and George and his team are highly recommended 5*
