Alex and his company did a great job for us on helping remodel 3 bathrooms and 2 bedrooms at our home in London. Alex had some excellent ideas for reconfiguring our ensuite, allowing us to have a bath as well as shower and loo in a small space which worked really well. He was always on hand to discuss works as the build took place, with visits, phone, email or drawings as needed. The finished rooms look absolutely 5 star. What do you love most about your job?
I love that architecture has a direct impact on how people feel and function in a space. A well-designed building can uplift, inspire, or even heal. Knowing that my work contributes to someone’s daily experience in a positive way is what keeps me motivated.
What inspired you to start your own business?
I started my own practice because I wanted the creative freedom to pursue the kind of projects that align with my design values. Owning my business allows me to shape a vision from start to finish, without compromising the integrity of the work. I wanted to create a practice where client relationships were at the heart of everything. Architecture is deeply personal, and I wanted to work in a way that allowed for real trust and creativity with each client

Can you provide your services online or remotely? If so, please add details.
Yes, the majority of the work can be provided remotely, depending on the scale of the project. It is always better to visit the property to understand the space and light conditions etc but the physical design development and communication side of the work can utilise video calls and emails to discuss and further the design.
What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?
Whilst this question is probably dated now as that moment in our lives has passed, we are always aware that people have their own personal requirements and preferred ways of working. Modern technology allows for multiple ways of communicating and showing visualisations without the need to physically meet. At AJK we always work intend to understand our clients and their needs first, both architecturally and how they want to work, so we best know how to help move the project forward.
Planning Permission
RIBA stage 1-3 helping clients to define their brief, understanding how feasible a project is and working through design to prepare a planning stage set of information.
Overseeing planning submissions and introducing relevant 3rd party specialists as necessary to have a complete set of information.
3d Design
To prepare various levels of modelling to help clients better understand the proposals, from massing models for larger schemes to define space and built environment, to 3d realistic renders of interior and exterior views of homes.
Building Reg and Construction Drawing
RIBA stage 4 technical packages of information suitable for either building regulation compliance or further detailed information suitable to form contract documents and be used for construction to client requirements.
Schedule of Works / Specification
To prepare written specification documents to accompany detailed technical drawings and be part of a package of information to better inform contractors as to the work involved in your build.
Tender
To prepare a package of information and issue to building contractors. To then review tender returns from a cost, time, quality metric and provide a written report intended to define which contractor is best suited to your project.
Contract Administration
To set up formal building contracts between yourself and chosen building contractor, to oversee that contract during the works, inspecting progress, assessing and signing of payment requests and bringing the build to completion.
