One of the first things I hear from the dog owners I work with is “my dog is great but …”
Is your dog unruly, overly excitable, naughty, aggressive, reactive to other dogs, nervous, anxious, or noisy?
Are the issues getting progressively worse despite your best efforts?
Does your dog make you feel embarrassed, frustrated, scared or even angry?
Are you worried about the future you have with your dog?
Do you long for a calmer more balanced dog that you can enjoy your time with?

Yes Good Dog - Solihull Q&A
What do you love most about your job?
I most love helping rebalance the owner-dog relationship. People love their dogs and are quite often reaching despair and are really worried about the future. It is my aim to help owners understand, manage and offer alternative behaviours giving the owner the knowledge to be able to teach correctly and give their dog confidence in knowing the correct behaviour to choose.
What inspired you to start your own business?
Dogs have been a part of my life since I was a young girl with spending a lot of time on my grandparents’ farm and established boarding kennels. To my delight I was surrounded by a new litter of pups every other year and then most weekends I would be off with my mother and grandmother to dog shows all over the country. Even as a youngster I was amazed by the loyalty of these wonderful animals, I was taught to embrace the dog's natural behaviours and channel their energy and intelligence. You cannot help but love them all for their individuality and quirks but it is as important to remain balanced in your care-taking and guidance.
I have always owned at least one dog but my journey to turn my passion into a career started about ten years ago when I took on two adult rescue dogs called Murphy and Kelly. I was so pleased to give them a home but some of their more challenging behaviours were so deep-seated and couldn’t be dealt with through basic training alone.
At that time the vast majority of dog training methods seemed harsh and verging on abusive and I didn’t want to end up with a robot dog which obeyed through fear. When I dug a little deeper I found that the tide was turning to new scientific advancements into teaching dogs and that is how I started on a path of studying canine behaviours in-depth, with a particular focus on the effectiveness of merging some of the more empathetic old school methods with the newer positive reward-based theories.
Over the course of the next decade I studied everything from animal psychology to dog first aid – gaining an accredited diploma in Advanced Canine Behaviours. I have been a volunteer at a dog rehoming centre so I have gained invaluable experience with different breeds and a variety of behavioural issues. I have undertaken courses in canine body language and facial expression and I ensure my training and knowledge is up to the minute by regularly attending training sessions and seminars on everything from Canine Psychology and Behaviours, Clicker Training to Canine Aggression and Rehabilitation.
