How much does Counselling cost?

On average, a counsellor will charge about £50 per session. Although, this is variable depending on different factors, such as the location and the experience of the counsellor.

If you’re ready to find the best counsellors near you but need a clearer idea on price, then read our handy counselling price guide. You’ll find out just how much counselling will cost per session and what a counselling session will typically cover.

Is online Counselling effective?

Yes! Studies worldwide have shown online counselling to be just as effective as face-to-face counselling, and even more effective in some cases. With online counselling, you can communicate in a way you feel comfortable. If you’d feel more relaxed talking to your counsellor in a familiar setting, you can hold the session from the comforts of your home. Find a trusted online counsellor on Bark committed to helping you through a difficult time from anywhere in the world.

What can online Counselling help with?

Online counselling can help with pretty much anything that face-to-face counselling can, including difficult life changes, anxiety, depression, eating disorders, and much more. However, if your symptoms are extreme you may want to seek more urgent, face-to-face support. If you’re looking for an online counsellor who specialises in a particular field, like family counselling or counselling for children, you can search for online counsellors in a broad range of specialisms on Bark. Just let us know what you need and we’ll put you in touch with the best match for you.

Can I get online Counselling on Bark?

Absolutely! Bark makes it easy to find a trusted online counsellor to help you through whatever it is you’re facing without ever having to leave your home. Whether it’s a difficult life event, depression, anxiety, or anything else, just tell us what you’re looking for and we’ll connect you to a list of qualified mental health care professionals to choose from. What type of counselling services do you offer?

At my practice, I offer lots of different types of counselling services – from individual sessions to group therapy. It all depends on what each client needs and what they’ll benefit from. Because a lot of my clients lead busy lives, I also offer online and telephone counselling if that suits their schedule better. Although I always suggest coming in for a face-to-face session now and then, as these are often very helpful.

What qualifications do you have?

To be a certified counsellor, you need to have a Level 4 qualification in counselling. This can be as a diploma, or at a degree or postgraduate level. I chose to go down the university route by undertaking a BSc Hons in Psychology & Counselling. This meant that I got a degree and was accredited by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I am now a registered counsellor with over 10 years of experience and have completed a number of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) modules.

What is the main reason your clients come to you?

Most of my clients have certain goals in mind when it comes to their therapy. Often they want to resolve issues which are causing difficulties in their lives. This may be problems in their personal relationships that they want help working through. It could be with their partner, family, friends, or work colleagues. Or they may want to develop coping mechanisms to help deal with their own mental health. But often these can interlink. For example, if a client is wanting help with their personal relationships, this often has a positive knock-on effect on their own mental health.

In addition to my review, I did the 6 weeks Empowered Relationship course/programme (for reference)!

I am a young adult trying to better myself due to a lack of confidence, self esteem and self respect. This lack affected the boundaries that I was setting, therefore impacting the people that I was allowing into my life, and how I allowed them to treat me. Not only this, but it impacted how I viewed myself and how I thought other people viewed me; therefore, impacting how I behaved towards others. Louise has been the absolute best. She has an energy that allows you to feel comfortable, accepted and empowered. For those who may feel misunderstood or as if they are ‘crazy or unworthy’, Louise is able to flip those feelings into feeling understood, heard and appreciated. She creates a judgement free, open and encouraging interaction that allows you to get the most out of yourself and the course. The daily topic videos, attending the weekly catch up sessions, doing the daily worksheets, the daily motivation tasks and the course group chat has made this experience so unique and valuable for me. This is because, throughout the whole course I was able to consistently grow and learn and can still continue to do so by rewatching the videos and redoing the tasks etc. Whether you are a young adult like myself, middle aged or older, we all deserve to gage who we really are, what false/limiting beliefs we hold against ourselves and why and how strong our boundaries are within our relationships, and ourselves (AND MORE). This course will not only pave the way for you to find these answers out (and many other answers to your questions), but it will provide you with coping strategies/tools to be able to change how you think, react and reflect within challenges and situations that we face in life. During the course I was able to implement the coping strategies and tools within my daily life and see changes straight away (with the help of the ‘undercover tasks’ that where set to help implement what I had learnt from a lesson or call). This course has made me see things in a different light. I am very thankful and honoured that I was able to do this course. Thank you Louise, this course saved me!

John is great. He's easy to talk to and understands issues quickly. His suggestions for how to take on challenges are very helpful.
