Hi I'm Jayne a counsellor and hypnotherapist. I work both with young people and adults. I work with children & young people in local schools and also within my private practice. My work with young people has included, anxiety, anger, self harm, bereavement, confidence, exam stress, bullying, family separation and family support, low mood and negative thought patterns. My work with adults through counselling and hypnotherapy includes stress, anxiety, loss & bereavement, couples counselling, relationships, confidence and motivation, depression, low mood, negative thought patterns, regression, phobias, body confidence & weight loss, give up smoking. I am intuitive in my work and connect with each and everyone I work with on different levels. We all at some point in our lives face challenges, whether big or small, we sometimes need that extra support through counselling to help heal, understand and move forward feeling free, positive and confident to achieve all you dreamed of. When I first got in contact with Jayne I felt as if my life was falling apart, I couldn’t control my thoughts, I was always thinking about the negatives and found it hard to focus on the positives about life. Jayne is a really calming person who has helped me turn my life around. I can’t believe how much better I feel after just four sessions with Jayne, her work is really powerful and I can’t thank her enough for helping me let go and release any of my uncontrollable negative thoughts and feelings. I feel like a new person, I can control my thoughts now and hardly ever think negative, I wouldn’t be the way I am now or feel as happy as I do if it wasn’t for Jayne helping me. " SWA Liverpool "I have had hypnotherapy before I went to Jayne. However Jayne's approach was more than an hour of hypnotherapy. She took time to get to know me and as a result the sessions were amazing. I never felt rushed or pressured into booking more sessions. I would have no hesitation recommending Jayne and two of my friends have had therapy from Jayne and like me they have also recommended her to others. If you are considering therapy from Jayne, go for it with total confidence that she will be amazing." JB Liverpool

What do you love most about your job?

My work as a therapist is so rewarding. I am so lucky to have so many people allow me into their lives and help them feel free, happy and better about whatever they may be struggling with.

I have worked hard over the years to build my reputation as a therapist working both with adults and young people. Being in a position were most of my work is through recommendation is an amazing feeling and great place to be.

Having my own therapy practice is another plus as I am able to have the flexibility for my clients to fit around them and also my own family life.

What inspired you to start your own business?

Being a single mum at the time, I wanted to have the flexibility to be there for my son and have the freedom of working for myself.

Being able to show my son that if you work hard, you can be and have all you dream of 😊

Why should our clients choose you?

I am intuitive in my work and connect with everyone I support on different levels. I have a very diverse working history, helping support clients with lots of different issues. Both with Adults and young people.

"I was dubious about visiting a counsellor as I had visited one some years before, but hadn’t found it had helped as much as I’d hoped. However, my experience with Jayne was totally different. Jayne was recommended to me by a friend and colleague and after visiting her I know why she came so highly recommended.

Each week there was no set routine. Jayne led the sessions very much based upon what I needed at that time. Some weeks I had hypnotherapy, other weeks I had counselling – it really was a personalised programme of support. Jayne was happy to be led by me and my needs at a particular time. I think the most important thing for me is that Jayne has given me coping mechanisms for life – not just a ‘quick fix’. Although I no longer have regular appointments with Jayne, I haven’t said goodbye as I feel that I may need further support in the future and I believe there’s no-one better equipped to offer that support than Jayne. I can’t thank her enough. " KR Liverpool

My sessions with Jayne helped me a lot in and out of school, also with the bullying as well. It's a place to go and it makes you feel better. KG age 12.

I needed help with my confidence. I am so happy now and can't believe I never believed in myself. I can't thank Jayne enough, she is a kind and loving person MC age 15

Counselling FAQs

Your expert Counsellor will be able to advise you on the full range of services available and will be able to advise on what is most suitable. Use Bark to get free quotes and schedule an appointment today.

At your appointment, you will be encouraged to talk about your feelings and emotions with a trained Counsellor who will listen and support you without judging or criticising.
The therapist can help you gain a better understanding of your feelings and thought processes and find your own solutions to problems. However, they will not usually give advice or tell you what to do. The Counsellor might sum up what they understand you have been saying so that they can help you to form a plan of action.

Counselling can take place in a number of ways. These include:

  • Face to face session

  • Group session

  • Phone session

  • Email session

  • Online through live chat services or video conferencing software

You may be offered a single session of Counselling, a short course of sessions over a few weeks or months or a longer course that lasts for several months or years.

It can take a number of sessions before you start to see progress but you should gradually start to feel better with the help and support of your Counsellor.

You can be confident that any of the Bark local Counsellors listed will give you a reliable and efficient service to help you feel better.

You could look for Counsellors that are accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA) which means that they have met the PSA’s required professional standards to practise.

Before you choose a Counsellor, you could read testimonials and read details of the issues they can help with on their website.

You could also look at their profile page on Bark and check out reviews from past customers too.

Counselling can help with many issues. These include the following:

  • Mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety or eating disorders.

  • Physical health conditions such as infertility.

  • Difficult life events such as a bereavement, a relationship breakdown or work-related stress.

  • Dealing with difficult emotions such as low self-esteem or anger.

  • Sexual identity issues.

  • Divorce.

  • Redundancy and work issues.

  • Phobias and fears.

Absolutely! Many Counsellors provide their services remotely via an online video call or the telephone. Not only is it more convenient, but it's also the preferable option for many people who would feel more comfortable holding the session from the comfort of their own home.
