Dee Estuary Counselling & Support

‘20 Certificate of Excellence

My name is Donna Webb and I qualified as a counsellor in 2009. I am a member of the BACP and work closely to their ethical framework. I work ethically committing to supervision for the safety of my clients. I am DBS (Disclosing & Barring Service) checked and I am insured to practice. Over the years I have worked within a number of agencies offering counselling and support on a variety of issues. I have worked in women's refuges working alongside those who have been through domestic abuse helping them to find their autonomous self. I held a position at SSAFA (Sailors, Soldiers Airmen and their Families Association) for many years and worked with a huge range of issues. Those who used SSAFA's support services dealt with many challenges including homelessness, PTSD (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder), relationships, bullying, LGBTQ+, loneliness, isolation, harassment and self harm. I also have experience of foster care, teen pregnancies, bereavement, the benefit system, trauma and long term health issues. I also have experience of and have trained in online therapy. I will provide you with a safe and secure space to explore any issue you wish to bring to counselling and you will have the confidence to know that the space will be free from any preconceptions or judgements. I work eclectically as an Integral Counsellor, I will always take your needs into account and recognise that everything past and present in your life is interconnected and how this may be impacting on the present moment. I hope to restore a positive sense for yourself and that your life becomes a more healthy and balanced one. I will use a variety of models, skills and tools. Further knowledge of these models can be found on my website. As counsellors we too have to deal with the impact of life's stresses of everyday living and I believe it is important to find an outlet for these stresses. My own outlet is in art and design, music and being outside in nature. COVID-19 Although I have had to suspend face to face counselling please be aware that I offer secure online therapies using a variety of methods including telephone, chat-room, e-mail and video . Please make contact for further information or check out my website and head to the drop-down menu, page "Online Therapy". These are uncertain times at the moment and we are all having to adjust to a new way of living and some of us may find this difficult especially managing our mental and emotional health. Right now it's never been more important to take time for yourself and take care of yourself. If you are struggling please be assured that I am trained and experienced in delivering online therapy to my clients. Take care, stay safe and keep well.

What do you love most about your job?

The most rewarding experience is to sit alongside another human being whilst they learn to trust themselves and you and begin to tell you their story. I am humbled everyday that my clients choose me to experience this part of their life journey.

What inspired you to start your own business?

I was tired and frustrated with the lack of mental health services being offered to those who needed support in the moment. I felt I could fill a gap and help local people who may have fallen through the net or felt they simply wanted their needs met immediately by a private counsellor rather than wait months for a NHS appointment.

Why should our clients choose you?

I offer a safe and secure space for clients to explore what they feel they need to bring to counselling. I offer a choice of face to face counselling and online therapy. Both I have studied for, trained for and I am passionate about.

Can you provide your services online or remotely? If so, please add details.

I am fully trained as an online therapist and offer video calling, telephone and chatroom appointments.

What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?

During Covid-19 I have moved all clients to online work which has proved to be an excellent service providing fantastic results.

Counselling FAQs

Expand all

Your expert Counsellor will be able to advise you on the full range of services available and will be able to advise on what is most suitable. Use Bark to get free quotes and schedule an appointment today.

At your appointment, you will be encouraged to talk about your feelings and emotions with a trained Counsellor who will listen and support you without judging or criticising.
The therapist can help you gain a better understanding of your feelings and thought processes and find your own solutions to problems. However, they will not usually give advice or tell you what to do. The Counsellor might sum up what they understand you have been saying so that they can help you to form a plan of action.

Counselling can take place in a number of ways. These include:

  • Face to face session

  • Group session

  • Phone session

  • Email session

  • Online through live chat services or video conferencing software

You may be offered a single session of Counselling, a short course of sessions over a few weeks or months or a longer course that lasts for several months or years.

It can take a number of sessions before you start to see progress but you should gradually start to feel better with the help and support of your Counsellor.

You can be confident that any of the Bark local Counsellors listed will give you a reliable and efficient service to help you feel better.

You could look for Counsellors that are accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA) which means that they have met the PSA’s required professional standards to practise.

Before you choose a Counsellor, you could read testimonials and read details of the issues they can help with on their website.

You could also look at their profile page on Bark and check out reviews from past customers too.

Counselling can help with many issues. These include the following:

  • Mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety or eating disorders.

  • Physical health conditions such as infertility.

  • Difficult life events such as a bereavement, a relationship breakdown or work-related stress.

  • Dealing with difficult emotions such as low self-esteem or anger.

  • Sexual identity issues.

  • Divorce.

  • Redundancy and work issues.

  • Phobias and fears.

Absolutely! Many Counsellors provide their services remotely via an online video call or the telephone. Not only is it more convenient, but it's also the preferable option for many people who would feel more comfortable holding the session from the comfort of their own home.
