What do you love most about your job?
It is the most rewarding job I have ever had, knowing that my work is having a positive effect on the elderly and vulnerable people we support.
What inspired you to start your own business?
My name is Malcolm Stewart, and I am the founder of Sierra Homecare, along with my wife Julie.
I decided to set up the company following my own experiences when trying to source care for two of my brothers diagnosed with Alzheimer's/Dementia. It was a stressful and emotional time, and I had to face immense challenges, like many other families, to secure quality. consistent care for my loved ones.
Like you, I want the best for my family. I don't want my brothers to be passive recipients of care but to be supported to make their own decisions and continue to live their lives as they choose, in their own homes, surrounded by their own belongings and memories, with all the significant benefits this brings to their health and wellbeing.
At Serra Homecare we are passionate about providing the best quality care and support. We work closely with our clients and their families to provide an individually tailored service that meets our clients ' needs, reflects their choices and supports their families.
Support is provided by our dedicated team, who have been carefully selected for their skills, values, kindness and passion for wanting to make a positive impact on the lives of others.

Home Care
Moving a loved one into a care or nursing home can be very distressing for the individual and their family.
More and more, home care is becoming the preferred care option for families to ensure their loved one can remain in the home they know and love.
Only when you receive care in your own home can you be fully in control of how and when your care and support are provided, where you can make your own decisions. Care within your own home will allow for maximum privacy and dignity and the benefits of not having to share facilities with others will ensure a quieter and more peaceful environment.
We can provide personal care, help with dressing needs, continence care, nutrition and hydration, medication assistance, companionship, domestic tasks and much much more
Dementia Care
Individuals with dementia are best supported in their own home where they are surrounded by their own belongings following their usual routines, where they will not face the anxiety and distress of being in the unfamiliar environment of even the best care homes. Any change to routine can be distressing for someone who is living with dementia, so care at home is often the best care choice to provide continuity of care within the home they know and love. A detailed support plan will be put into place following a full consultation with our client/their family to ensure that the support we provide fully fulfils their care needs and their preferences, enabling them to remain relaxed and calm in their own home. We recognise that no two people are the same so our support plans are individually tailored. We will always ensure a regular carer visits, a friendly face who they will get to know.
Mental stimulation is important for those with dementia and we will help facilitate our clients interests and hobbies, taking them to community activities and events as required.
Respite Care
Providing care for a dependent relative can be extremely demanding and exhausting, both physically and mentally. Respite care is about enabling those who provide such care to have a well earned break, whether that be for one or two, or several hours on a daily or weekly basis. It is essential that those who are the main carer for their loved one are able to have some down time, time for themselves to recuperate or to pursue a hobby or activity they enjoy, to support their own health and wellbeing. Sierra Homecare offer high quality respite care in the safety of people’s own homes, where they feel most comfortable, surrounded by their belongings, without any disruption to their normal routine.
Elderly Care
We are committed to support our elderly clients to stay living independently in the comfort of their own homes. Our friendly team are able to assist with personal care, housekeeping and to provide companionship.
To receive support for personal care can be daunting, but our fully trained carers will provide the appropriate amount of support as required, encouraging people to do as much as they can for themselves. We can accompany clients to appointments, on shopping trips, to the cinema and other social or community activities or visits which may otherwise not be possible.
We encourage our clients to stay healthy, assist with food shopping, food preparation, and to undertake gentle exercise.
Home From Hospital Care
Leaving hospital can be a stressful time, but with our professional and personalised support, the transition back home can be as relaxed and worry-free as possible.
Our homecare after hospital discharge service in Bishops Stortford, Sawbridgeworth, Stansted and all surrounding areas, will help the transition back home run as smoothly as possible.
Our Clients feel safe knowing that they have personal and practical support available that can reduce the risk of repeat injury and re-admission.
We can support you during your recovery process to accompany you to appointments, provide transportation, support with medication and light housekeeping.
Supervision of discharge arrangements, food shopping, help with washing, dressing and personal care, physical assistance and support to move safely around the home, and re-assessment of needs.
Whatever your care needs are, from one-hour per day, through to over night care. Our care services will help you to get back home as safely and easily as possible, and without too many complications.
