Have to confess I was not impressed with Alex. If I could give lower than 1 star I would. He quoted £120.00 to fit a door, the door was the exact size so just needed hanging, new hinges on the opposite side and a latch. He completed the job and sent me a bill for £270.00 !!!!.....part of the extra charge was £80.00 to put a bit of filler into the old hing positions. (Most joiners would not charge for filler and £80.00 to fill 3 tiny holes was crazy.) Anyway, I paid him because I'm a nice person. I then checked the door the following day and it didn't shut because he had used a latch that was too short and the door handle hit the frame. I asked him back and I now have a notch cut out of my doorframe for the handle as it would have meant replacing a £250.00 door if I wanted to re do it. He then took away some small pieces of skirting which was to be his next job for me but then quotes £120.00 to cut 4 mitres and fit 2 foot of skirting (yes, you heard correctly £120.00 to fit 2 foot of skirting!) Based on my bad experience with the door and the high price to fit the skirting I asked him not to go ahead. He is now keeping my skirting and refusing to bring it back so it's going to cost me a fortune to have some made to match the mould of the existing skirting. Bearing in mind, I paid him everything he invoiced me for even though the price was well over doubled from his quote and I was a gentleman regarding the state of the door (I could have insisted he replaced the door at his cost) and here I am, £270.00 paid for £120.00 quote, a door that has the handle now cut out of the door frame and he is holding my skirting to ransom unless I pay him a further £120.00 to fit it!.........To say I was unhappy with his workmanship and attitude would be an understatement. The job was to insulate the walls and ceiling of an old loft extension. It involved a lot of intricate work replacing all the old boarding with plasterboard in addition to removal and reinstallation of central heating and lighting fitments.
