Seaquyoiah is a gym-master and passionate about getting me fit :o For me she represents the hard-to-find right balance of qualities for a personal coach: a little ruthless, a lot supportive, laid back and yet very focused and goal-oriented. I feel like she has a vision that is more ambitious than my own, which is kind of cool because I've gotten SO out of shape that my expectations are a lot lower than they were ten and twenty years ago. But Mz. S has my back and wants me to look slim, sleek and strong. Who am I to argue? It has to be said too that this is personal training that is very affordable, relative to others of her caliber and her rates make it possible for me to go to her regularly. I am beginning to see results, which is remarkable given my off and on, half-assed commitment--but as I said, Seaquyoiah means business. While there is no need to be in the least bit intimidated, she does expect you to work out to your outer limit. I hear her classes are amazing too (how I first learned about her) but I am just doing the one-on-one training for the time being. Oh yes, and Burpie, her female (that's right) tiny dog is adorable.

I was having a lot of pain during the deep squat and was referred to Dr. Matt by a fellow member at my crossfit gym. I can say that he was extremely helpful in fixing my issue.
The visit consisted of a thorough history and movement assessment. He asked me a lot of questions about my training history and what I was doing when the pain first started. He noticed that the pain came about right when I increased my squatting from 2 days per week to 3-4 days per week. He then spent a good amount of time watching my squat and honed in on the cause of pain. We spent the rest of the visit going over drills and retested my squat at the end. To my surprise, the pain I had been experiencing was completely gone.
I would recommend anyone experiencing pain to go see Dr. Matt. He is very knowledgeable about sports medicine and treats very differently that most chiropractors. He explained everything in detail but also in a way that was easy to understand. He also explained why we were doing certain exercises and how it would transfer over to my squat.
One of the best parts was that he didn't try to get me to come back multiple times after that visit. As I said before, my pain was gone at the end of our first visit. He sent me home with some drills and said I only needed to come back if the pain returned, which it didn't. If you're a lifter and need help getting over those nagging injuries, Dr. Matt is your guy!

You might be asking yourself at this point, what is a Warrior? Warrior is a mindset. We are inspired everyday by everyday people rising above themselves to answer a call to battle and to fight. This fight could be as bold and public as putting themselves on the line of duty in war, or as quiet and private yet just as terrifying and difficult as a battle with obesity or cancer. Whatever your goal, your battle, may be, you have something you want to work towards, you have your own fight ahead. It is NEVER too late to commit to that battle. A Warrior is not the kid that was always picked first in gym class, nor are they the best athlete in town. A Warrior is a person that has a fight, recognizes the challenge in front of them, and commits to the battle with no excuses or looking back. A Warrior seeks change and is driven onward toward the next step in their victory. How do you become a Warrior? By unleashing the Warrior Mentality and the athlete within you. Recognize the fight inside – We are Warrior Strength Training.
We use traditional strength training, Underground Strength Training Methods, Kettlebells, Bodyweight, and Martial Art Movements to achieve goals. A complete Program is key to success. Its not JUST about weight training. Its a balance of nutrition, training, recovery, and mindset. My job is to guide you according to where you currently are and bring you to small goals to achieve the bigger picture.
Nutrition and Dedication to the program is key. I can only guide you. You have to do the work. No Trainer or program is perfect. It's a journey that you are willing to take with your trainer as you BOTH get to know each other. There IS NO secret. almost all the information is out there. Its a matter of finding out the recipe that works for you. You become your own food scientist and your best ally to defeat any obstacles in your way currently and ones that may come along the way as you strive towards your goals.
I get to see changes in people that make this world a better place. People are empowered physically and mentally and spiritually. As a martial artist and strength coach....I get the best of both worlds.
I hated the corporate mentality of looking at people as revenue lines. It was constantly seeing how much more money the company can make. I started in the health field to make a difference and I got out in time before it consumed my soul and my initial passion to help others.
I'm NOT just a trainer. I did not pay for a two day online certification course. I went to college and became a college trainer. I've trained athletes at the highest levels and I've worked with people who are in specialty population groups that most trainers wouldn't dare work with for lack of skill and knowledge. My diversity and experience sets me apart. I'm also not magically physically gifted. I worked hard to get where I'm at and I understand that. I know what it's like to be bullied and to be fat. I've been through the ups and downs and I can relate to those wanting to be a Warrior. It's authenticity in relating to the client.
I can do both. I prefer in person but can do online if that's the only resource at the moment.
Online programming and coaching is one avenue to provide safety.
