I engaged Homecheck UK Ltd as Agreed Surveyor for a Party Wall Award relating to building works at my property.After the Award was issued, concerns arose regarding whether certain clauses fell within the statutory scope of the Party Wall etc. Act 1996.When these concerns were raised with Homecheck, the follow-up correspondence from Emma Brooks and Oliver Rawlins was, in my view, inappropriate in tone. I therefore submitted a formal complaint to the Faculty of Party Wall Surveyors regarding the Award and subsequent communications.The Faculty has since reviewed the matter and confirmed that the comments made in my complaint were upheld and that Oliver Rawlins has agreed to submit future Party Wall Awards for monitoring for a 12-month period to ensure they meet Faculty standards and reflect current legal precedents.Prospective clients may wish to ensure that any Award provisions strictly reflect the statutory framework of the Party Wall etc. Act 1996.
