First off, Courtney is one of the sweetest, most genuine people I’ve ever met. She’s the real deal. She is kind, compassionate, and so relatable. She tailors every workout to fit my needs and gives me the encouragement, tough love, and accountability I need to be successful. I am so appreciative of all of Courtney’s hard work and I look forward to every single session with her (even at 5:00am)!

I have worked out for 20 plus years. My past workouts primarily consisted of cardio with light strength training through group classes. Out of curiosity I went to Erin for a body scan to determine my percentages of body fat and muscle mass. After reviewing those results, with Erin, my goal was to build muscle. Erin developed a nutrition plan (that provided the appropriate balance of protein, carbs, and fats....actually more calories than I was consuming...YES!!) and a detailed workout plan including strength training and conditioning. I work with Erin four times per week. Weight loss was not my goal, but I did lose 3% body fat after the first six weeks. I value the research, attention, and supervision I get working with Erin as a personal trainer. She gives her undivided attention in the studio and responds quickly to texts and emails. It has been a fun process, and my workouts are my favorite part of the day.

Jovon Times is by far the best trainer I have had. I have lost inches and weight and I love the size of the Gym. The work outs are great; he explains EVERYTHING so I know what I am doing so I do not injure myself. I recommend him for anyone who wants to loose weight and keep it off. Jovon knows his stuff! He also explains nutrition and teaches you what to eat and when. Jovon is very thorough and professional and worth every penny. His cost is GREAT too for all he offers. I recommend him to everyone!!!

If you're on the fence about checking out Gold's do it! AND if you've tried it before then it's definitely worth giving it another shot. I have been a member of Gold's Gym in Rock Hill for over 2 years now and the staff and facility lately are the best I have ever seen it. The gym is definitely now my happy place but that hasn't always been the case for me. In the last 2 years, being a member of Gold's has not only helped me regain my health but in turn my energy and my life! I first joined because of the women's center and the childcare but soon realized that there was so much more to love, including the classes. Recently, I had hit a spot where I needed to take my workout to the next level. Blake, the general manager of personal training, sat down and assessed where I wanted to be and how I could get there. He was so professional, friendly and easy to talk to. He answered all of my questions and connected me with the best possible fit in a personal trainer for me. I've worked with personal trainers in the past but Jerry is by far the best of the best! His knowledge, patience, and encouragement are second to none. Jerry has transformed not only my body but ultimately the way I view working out with a trainer and I would highly recommend trying to up your workout with him or another trainer at Gold's. Health and fitness take a commitment. You must be ready but if you are then Gold's Gym in Rock Hill is the place to support you in becoming your best you! Go try it for yourself!

This yoga class was what I need for my crazy busy life. Their candlelight yoga is a delicious end to a Thursday night. It's hard to push yourself into making that me time, but this IS the place to go for calming, restorative yoga. The instructor is so calming and encouraging and I feel about 2" taller when I leave after all that amazing stretching. I joined the unlimited yoga for new students and I've been there 3 times in 5 Days! All the OM!
Should I work out every day of the week?
It depends on your end goal. If you’re training for a marathon, you might work out nearly every day of the week. If you’re a low-level beginner, a minimum of three times a week is enough to make a noticeable impact. No matter what you’re working out for, everyone needs rest and recovery days. Without them, your muscles won’t be able to recuperate and grow strong, so remember to factor in some down-time, too!
Where can I have my personal training sessions?
Pretty much anywhere! The great thing about personal training is that it’s flexible - as long as you have the necessary equipment, you and your instructor can decide to have your sessions from the gym, your home, the park, or even your office if you want to!
Does my fitness instructor need to know anything about me?
Yes! First of all, they will chat with you about your goals, and discuss the best way to achieve them. They should also ask you to fill in a consent form to check that you don’t have any pre-existing health conditions that could impact your exercise. They’ll also carry out a health assessment to get a better idea of your current fitness level, tailoring your workout plan around that.
What does a standard personal training session involve?
It's tricky to say, as personal training sessions vary significantly depending on what you want to achieve and the type of workout. Generally, one personal training session tends to last forty-five minutes to one hour. It will start with a gentle warm-up, followed by the nitty-gritty of the actual workout, with stretches to end the session. Remember, warming up and stretching is essential for injury prevention - it’s just as important as the main part of the workout!
What qualifications should a personal trainer have?
A personal trainer needs to be clued up on all aspects of fitness, from the most effective exercise techniques to nutrition and human anatomy- that’s a lot of responsibility! You need to make sure your professional is suitably qualified for the job. After all, you shouldn’t cut corners when it comes to investing in your health. Make sure your trainer has the minimum qualifications required to practice. In the UK, this is the Level 3 Personal Trainer qualification.
Can I get a Personal Trainer online?
Absolutely! Online personal training has become increasingly popular as more people are looking to maintain their fitness during lockdowns and gyms closing. As long as you and your personal trainer have a strong internet connection and a device to stream on like a laptop, tablet or smartphone, there's no reason why your session can't be delivered remotely.
