Best trainer in Glenview!! I really enjoy working with Joseph Barhoumeh, he's a very inspiring  and knowledgeable personal trainer!! Great to work with,  friendly,  compassionate,  cares about my goals and helps me to achieve them! So glad I found him! I was trying to lose weight after having my second child,  he was so amazing to work with and really helped me get to where I wanted to be! Not just to lose weight, but taught me a life style of better eating habits! He's the BEST!!!

Movement skill is a priority. Meaning, you must move well withOUT weights (dumbbells/barbells/kettlebells) before you can move effectively WITH them. There’s no logic to making a poor movement pattern stronger, because it will cost you in the long term. We learn to move, then learn to lift. The result is a resilient, injury-resistant physique and a mind as strong as your body.

A certified trainer provides a level of personalization that a group class cannot. By focusing on your specific goals—whether that's recovering from an injury or training for a local event—you'll see faster, safer results.
Safety and expertise should be your top priorities. Ensure your coach holds a credential from a recognized body such as NASM, ACE, or ACSM. If you are looking for high-performance athletic training, look for an NSCA-certified specialist (CSCS).
One of the best ways to lower your bill is the hybrid approach. Use a personal trainer for a weekly check-in to perfect your technique, then apply what you've learned in your own solo workouts at the gym or at home.

Congratulations on taking the very first step on your journey to wellness and looking great! I don't care how heavy, how old, how you know nothing about working out...if you're willing to follow through and put in the work, you will see the results and get the body of your dreams. I am your personal Mr. Miyagi, and I can show you all the secrets and tips of transforming your body to one you will want to show off. But it ultimately will be you that will do the work. You're never too old to get rid of pain, to move easily and experience the joy of movement again. It just takes persistence and an experienced guide like myself to get you there. As we work together you'll find the work we do together is much more than lifting weights; what we're really doing is changing lives. As you break through your self-imposed limitations, you'll soon see your confidence rise and start looking at yourself in new ways you hadn't thought possible. We can work out at your home, a building workout room, or a gym facility depending on what is convenient for you. For a home workout, we use bodyweight exercises as well as dumbbells I bring for best results. We specialize in: - Body fat to muscle transformations - Elimination of chronic pain through posture and alignment rehabilitation - Karate and martial arts - Seniors Our clientele has been mostly male, although women are certainly welcome. I have been a Certified Personal Trainer since 2014 by the National Academy of Sports Medicine. I also have NASM Certified Specializations in Weight Loss and Corrective Exercise, so you will be given a workout program backed by scientific research. What makes us different? - We start with a thorough interview and assessment to find out what your goals are. With your permission, we take measurements and photos so we can track your progress. - Then we put together a game plan and timetable together so you can get an idea when you are expected to hit your goals. - The body works as a unit, so we first analyze and correct your posture alignment so we aren't adding on muscle to a faulty or weakened foundation. - We post the session exercises on the Internet so you can review and repeat the program on non-training days.
It's the positive reinforcement and joy clients experience when they see their bodies start to change that brings them coming back and staying on track.
We start with a thorough assessment of each client:
- Weight
- Body fat percentage
- BMI
- Muscle
- Body alignment and Posture
- Muscle measurements (with permission)
- Photos (with permission)
Based on the client's goals and their daily calorie needs, we can put an estimated timetable together on when they will meet their target weight if they stick with the program.
We can take updated photos every 4-6 weeks so the client can see the visible improvement.
One quality stands out among all others - persistence...that is the secret sauce. The repeated stimulation your muscles receive week after week forces your body to get the message you are sending it and respond and grow.
Here's a secret many trainers overlook: human beings are motivated by pleasure, much more than deprivation or drudgery. So while workout sessions can be hard work, by keeping them fun and focusing on results, it gives clients the motivation to continue. The pleasure of fitting in those new jeans or looking great at the beach exceeds the pleasure of taking that second slice of pizza.
When the chemistry is right between a Trainer and Client, there's a tremendous satisfaction and shared victory in helping clients achieve breakthroughs and move further along to their goals.
While I have always enjoyed working out, it was my development of chronic back pain due to years of computer use, driving, and general sitting that propelled me to find an answer and restore the joy of movement we all felt as children. And I'm still a work in progress.
If you need someone to lead you in aerobics, boot camp or group fitness, I'm probably not your best first choice.
However, if you want to get stronger and develop a great looking physique you will love looking at, or if you are not moving easily and want to fix your muscle imbalances, then you are in my skill set!
Sure, you will get healthier after our workout sessions, but there's nothing wrong with vanity and wanting to look great for you and your family.
My clients are not just numbers to me. I care about their progress and keep after them to make sure they are on track to meet their goals.
I am still getting used to online training, and it's not my first choice since it is not as easy to see how you are responding to each of the exercises.
However, it's tough to beat the convenience of online training, so hopefully in the near future I will have mastered online training.
I wear a face mask most of the time and, after an initial greeting, maintain a steady 6+ foot distance from our clients. Rather than get close up and take measurements of our clients key muscle groups, these days I just ask the client to do it themselves and email me the results.
