What do you love most about your job?

What I love most about my work is to be in partnership with my clients and to witness their life transformation.

What inspired you to start your own business?

I am inspired as a health coach due to my own personal journey. Breakthrough #1 - 7 years ago, I had pneumonia. I was at home in bed for 30 days. I could not work. I lost 10 pounds. My doctor asked if I was getting 3 servings per day. I knew that in my state, I should not be consuming these types of foods. Breakthrough #2 - While sick, I was listening to a nutrition module that explained how I should be grateful for my illness as it is my wake up call. My body is asking for major self-care and nutritious foods. When I gave my body what it was craving, I was on the road to recovery. This experience changed my life and I knew I needed to educate others how to do the same. This work will change your life in so many amazing ways.

Why should our clients choose you?

"The biggest tangible change I have noticed since working with Sheila is I stopped drinking soda and have lost just over 15 pounds in 2 months. Sheila is a great coach and extremely supportive. She helped me focus on quick food options and have more awareness by having a weekly check in."

"My top 3 goals upon beginning work with Sheila included learning more about my relationship with food, become more connected to my eating habits and achieve accountability in my daily actions. Sheila kept me accountable and made me aware of which habits were working for me instead of against me. She shared a breathing technique that is helping with my stress level. Since working with Sheila in just 1 month, I am having less anxiety around food, I'm choosing an 80/20 lifestyle and enjoying eating healthier. Sheila is warm, kind, understanding and supportive. I look forward to continuing this journey with Sheila for more health education and inspiration."

Your professional life coach will be able to advise you on the full range of coaching available and will be able to help you select the best one to suit your needs. They will also be able to answer any questions you may have. Use Bark to get free quotes and find a trusted life coach today.

You can have as many or as few life coaching sessions as you like. Many life coaches operate over the phone or via the internet so the sessions can easily fit around your schedule. Some people hire a life coach once every few months, some people have a session once a week.

Life coaching sessions will typically last up to an hour. Often after an initial assessment, sessions can be conducted over the phone, face to face, over email, via Skype/Zoom and occasionally through instant messaging.

During the session, your life coach will ask you a number of questions, such as what you want to achieve in life, what areas you're unhappy with and where you'd like to see yourself in the future. Although a life coach will work with you, it’s often up to you to challenge or reflect upon certain ideas you have to help you move forward with your life. You will never be forced to make any decisions you don't feel comfortable with and all sessions will be confidential.

Life coaching is focused on your present and your future. Coaching accepts your current reality and looks to improve your outcome moving forward. Life coaches are not health professionals and they do not diagnose you. By contrast, therapy focuses on your past and looks to delve into past actions and patterns. It is analytical but not action-oriented.

Most mainstream health insurance providers do not cover the costs of life coaching because it is not considered a mental health profession in the same way therapists and counsellors are.

Life coaches do not need to have any formal or academic qualifications but you may want to look for life coaches who possess an industry-specific qualification, such as the Life Coaching Diploma or Personal Performance Diploma (PPD).

You may also want to ask for testimonials of their recent work. You could also look at their profile page on Bark, which shows you reviews from past customers who have used their life coaching services.

A life coach is a trained professional who aims to help and guide individuals to make, meet and exceed personal and professional goals. They support clients on a journey to rediscover their own strength and abilities. This can include excelling in the workplace, becoming happy and fulfilled at home, exploring your potential, managing health conditions and achieving life ambitions.

By harnessing techniques based on core psychological principles and intuition, life coaches empower clients and provide a toolkit of teachings to confidently face difficult challenges and overcome emotional barriers.

Life coaches can specialise in one of these particular areas of coaching: career coaching, executive business, group coaching, health and wellbeing, performance management, personal development, relationships, retirement, spiritual and youth coaching.

Rapport is one of the most important parts of life coaching. If you feel uncomfortable with your professional, you are unlikely to gain much from the session. It is advisable to get in contact before you book a session to meet your life coach so you can gauge how comfortable you are in their presence. It is worth talking to a few potential life coaches and ask questions.

Yes! As long as you have a strong internet connection, then your life coach can deliver sessions via an online video chat platform. Alternatively, it can be done over the phone.
