Alberto Minzer, MSW, LCSW, CADC

Alberto is a gifted master psychotherapist with 37 years of experience in the mental health field. Alberto was called to the profession at the age of 10 years old and his work is his passion, and his mission is to heal the planet one person at a time.

He was born in Uruguay, Montevideo and lived there as a child before coming to the United States at the age of 10. He has a deep connection to a spiritual life and has studied Kabbala and Sufism which are disciplines that take you deep into the spiritual world. Currently he is studying at the Institute for Spiritual Healing with world renowned Dr. Ibrahim Jaffe M.D. in Tampa Florida. Alberto can also conduct spiritual healing sessions that can take an individual deep into their essence and look at the deepest aspects of Medical, mental and emotional problems.

Alberto has had quite an extensive work experience in the field of mental health and addiction treatment and recovery. He received his graduate degree from Loyola University of Chicago in 1983 and a graduate of Grant Hospital Chemical Dependency Program in Chicago. He holds a certification as C.A.D.C. and can treat soft and hard addictions including drugs and alcohol, eating, sex, and gambling. He also has been affiliated with The Mankind Project which is an international organization that conducts men’s trainings all over the world. He has staffed 34 times in Chicago, Texas, St Louis, and Mexico. He is fluent in Spanish and can conduct sessions in Spanish.

He has worked in Inpatient and outpatient mental health settings, employee assistance programs, managed care industry, drug and alcohol treatment programs, and mental health clinics. He has extensive experience as a leader in the field holding several Directorship positions in the treatment of addictions and mental health. Alberto also was awarded the top clinical supervisor in 2010 from George Williams College of Social Work. He has developed supervisory programs to work with graduate programs in the Schools of Psychology and Social work with Universities in Illinois and California. He is sought out after for his supervisory skills.

Alberto is a published author, and his book Boys Don’t Cry: MEN DO is on Amazon. He is working on his second book, Strong in The Wounded Places: Living in the Light.

Alberto is intuitively gifted and can assess the individual, couple or family very quickly resulting in a laser focus approach to the deepest causes of what brings individuals to seek help.

He is very warm, direct, and pragmatic in his approach. After years of working in the field, he considers himself an artist and does not rely on any particular techniques, rather he brings his heart into all this work. Clients can feel his presence rather instantly and provide a safe place of trust allowing others to drop their guards and do their work.

Alberto has a deep value for life and understands that everyone of us has a gift and purpose for living our lives fully with deep meaning and significance. He strongly believes we are here to be challenged to be our best version of our true selves. The challenges and issues we face are actually opportunities to bring out our very best selves into the presence in order to live full and meaningful lives. We are Spiritual beings having a human experience. It is in our human experience we suffer. Our spiritual selves are perfect beings. He believes pain is inevitable suffering is optional. We suffer because we need to reach deeper levels of self- understanding. Once we get to know the deepest truth of our highest selves’ problems are healed and resolved.
