As a colleague, I have had the privilege of working with Shylah Blatt, LMFT and have always been highly inspired and touched by the high level of integrity, compassion, knowledge, and skills she brings into her daily work. The compassionate care she demonstrates with each client she works with is truly heart-warming. I truly appreciate her integrative, culturally-sensitive, and relational approach. The light of hope and compassion she spreads both personally and professionally is amazing. Very honored to have been able to work with a therapist like her!

I am a licensed psychologist and Certified Eating Disorder Specialist with over 25 years of clinical experience. Through my private practice, and as host of the *Behind The Bite* podcast, and numerous speaking engagements, I help people overcome the deep, often overlooked struggles that range from anxiety, depression, relationships, food, body image, and self-worth. I earned my doctorate in psychology from the University of Southern California and my Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in marriage and family therapy from Pepperdine University. I tailor each and every session to your unique situation and goals. Our work together is about you and your needs. My aim is to help you move beyond your struggles and onto living a better, healthier life. For those struggling specifically with eating disorders or body image issues, I offer a compassionate and insightful approach that resonates with those ready to break free from diet culture and reclaim their lives. My work has been featured in *USA Today*, *Yahoo! Business*, *LA Weekly*, and *The NYC Journal*.
Honestly, I just love seeing people get better and living healthier lives.
I worked at a large hospital for many years where I had to see only individual adults and only work under their guidelines and schedules. I was unable to see patients when I felt they needed to be seen (which was usually weekly or at least every other week). Furthermore, I was not able to see couples or families. Given that I had been trained in my Master's Program in Marriage in Family Therapy and also wanted to be able to see patients without any constraints, I went into my own practice.
I love the freedom and variety afforded by being in my own practice. It allows me and my patients to collaborate and for me to tailor their treatment to their individual needs and circumstances.
I absolutely love what I do. It is my passion and I cannot imagine doing anything else. I purposely focused my training starting with very young children and worked my way up through the ages from elementary school children, middle school, high school, college, and then adults. In doing so, I now have a comprehensive background in treating patients from all ages and developmental stages. This has allowed me to work well with a variety of patients over the years. For instance, I can treat patients who are struggling with childhood issues of their own or with their own children.
Throughout my career, I have also specialized in treating eating disorders, and am now a certified eating disorder specialist (CEDS). I have treated hundreds of patients struggling with food, weight and body image issues in the 20+ years since I have been seeing patients. So, if you have an unhealthy relationship with food or are overwhelmed with your with your body image, give me a call.
I solely work remotely now, which all of my current patients love. They feel the convenience of being able to fit in a session during work hours, last-minute or even on vacation is a major plus. They also love that a 50 minute session really is only 50 minutes of their day. No commute or travel time needed.
I can also see people that I never would have otherwise been able to due to distance.
