I have been working in fitness and as a trainer full time for 23 years. I was a pre-med student as well as an EMT previously. I was the top trainer for Bally Total Fitness and was the 1997 National Trainer of the Year. I've had ACE Certifications, an ISSA Certification and currently have two 60 hour course certifications from Fitness Institute International, one as a Strength & Conditioning Specialist. I also have a nutrition certification and just passed my Level-I CrossFit exam. I have coached several youth sports including wrestling, lacrosse, baseball and football. I've owned two gyms and also had a company of 75 trainers, staffing nine health clubs. I know the industry and business at every level.

How do you help your clients achieve their fitness goals?

First, the client needs to be following the right exercise and nutrition for their specific goals. It's not a matter of opinion, it's all about science. From there, a good trainer like myself is good at keeping people accountable to the program through education, tracking workouts and nutrition, and also by constantly showing clients their improvements. I regularly measure bodyfat, perform tape measurements, show changes in strength and endurance, as well as any other fitness goals that the client has.

What’s the secret to getting the body of your dreams?

The right fitness program, the proper nutrition program, good motivation and coaching skills are the most important things to getting the body of your dreams.

What do you love most about your job?

I love to teach people and see them making progress. I love to see people start to dress differently as they get into better shape. I love hearing clients tell me when other people compliment them. I love to see couples relationships improve as they get more fit and become more attracted to each other.

What inspired you to start your own business?

Working in the corporate fitness arena, I was the #1 trainer in the country for Bally Total Fitness in 1996-1997. I had almost no guidance from management and made things happen on my own. One day the regional VP reprimanded me for having sign up sheets on the walls and said "We do $X in membership every month and your $10,000 doesn't mean sh*t to me.
