I highly recommend this school and the 360 Defense program. Sensei Stomberg is as talented as they come as a martial artist and as good as they come as a person. You will receive a top notch workout and the instruction comes with patience, drive and skill. Go to this school and you will see how strong your body and mind become...it will truly amaze you no matter what your age may be; no matter what your gender may be. Hands down one of the best things I have ever done. Take the journey... I promise you that you won’t regret it.

In a busy area like Portland, the biggest benefit is accountability. You aren't just paying for a workout; you're paying for a professional to ensure your form is perfect and your time isn't wasted on exercises that don't work for your body.
A reputable trainer must be certified. Look for certifications from accredited organizations. The most respected in the US are NASM (National Academy of Sports Medicine), ACE (American Council on Exercise), ACSM (American College of Sports Medicine), and NSCA (National Strength and Conditioning Association)—particularly the CSCS for athletes.
To keep costs down, consider small group training. By grabbing a few friends and splitting the session fee, you get expert attention for a fraction of the price. Additionally, ask about 'Commit and Save' deals where buying upfront lowers the per-session rate.

Loveland Strength and Fitness offers semi-private (3-on-1) and private (1-on-1) personal training services to the general public. Each program is hand written and tailored to the individual after a private complimentary consultation with your trainer. The consultation includes a Functional Movement Screen, a written questionnaire, and a discussion to determine goals, limitations, and requirements. Each session lasts 45 minutes per day. Sessions are always guided by a trainer, and there is always a conversation between client and trainer.
Due to extensive experience and breadth of clientele type, Loveland Strength and Fitness emphasizes conditioning the body through safe and effective movement patterns without putting risk on joints or damaged tissues. We challenge each individual according to their limitations and strengths. Not every body is made the same or moves in the correct way. Blending functional exercise, corrective movement patterns, and classic strength training with the right amounts always produces progress towards each client's goal or goals.
Depends on the body. Do you want to run marathons? Do you want to become a bodybuilder? Do you want your posture to improve? Having the body of your dreams is a fantastic goal, but improving each constituent of that goal is where you can really do some damage. For example, if you want to run marathons I suggest hiring a coach for running form to optimize gait and striking patterns. Then maybe optimize your diet as another area to tackle. Then comes the actual training (putting in the miles or whichever method you choose). There is never a "magic bullet" to achieving what you want out of your body, but there are many areas you can address simultaneously to get you as close to your dream as possible.
Personally, as the owner of Loveland Strength and Fitness, I love giving my clients the ability to overcome barriers. Whether it is losing those last 5 pounds out of 100, or simply grasping a weight with no pain, my passion stems from enabling others to improve their physical function and have fun while doing it.
I was previously a very successful personal trainer at another studio. My holistic approach did not meet the constraints of the current template that is traditional personal training, so I decided to branch out and form my own business. This enabled me to have freedom of choice when it comes to approaching a client's goal or limitation. There is no one way to teach someone the correct way on how to execute a movement unfortunately. Otherwise we would all be star athletes without pain or restriction. If I can prove a new method's efficacy with supporting data, then it is an approach worth investigating and maybe even integrating into my practice. That root belief serves as my inspiration.
Honestly, I am glad there is a platform where clients are choosing ANYONE to start moving their bodies more. Do not choose us if you are looking for bootcamp or Crossfit. We take a different approach than those two, even if both of those exercise models are extremely effective. I have tremendous respect for other business owners involved in all aspects of fitness and strength in the area. Loveland Strength and Fitness is a studio where there is always attention on our clients, and always a conversation between client and trainer. Our trainers can push you, but we aim to push you in safe and efficient ways. Choose us if you wish to work with a trainer who listens to you and keeps your goals paramount!
