The team at Refined Muscles is so knowledgeable, and really care about helping you achieve your goals. Enrico and Nick were incredible getting me set up with my first assessment to help me establish a routine that was achievable in my first few weeks getting back into the swing of working out - they really helped me make the most of my limited equipment and make a workout schedule that worked around having a toddler in the house. When I got pregnant again (yay!) Vincent took over, and really focused on identifying exercises I could do to help stay as active as possible and maintain my mobility and strength gains, fight the inevitable pregnancy fatigue, while also being gentle to my changing body. They have been so flexible and supportive, and have really been a pleasure to work with. Highly recommend!

Coach Curtis Harris Introduction: Let’s cut to the chase: I’m Curtis Harris, and I don’t do shortcuts, gimmicks, or wishful thinking. I build stronger bodies and smarter movers by fixing what’s broken first, stacking strength on a foundation that lasts, and using my Cross System a structured approach designed to get results you can feel, see, and move with confidence.
Johnathan A.
At 47 years old, I never thought I’d feel like an athlete again—especially not stronger than I was in college.
In my early 20s, I was a collegiate track athlete, and my entire identity was built around finishing my college career on the track. That dream ended abruptly with a torn quad injury. One moment I was competing at a high level, and the next, my athletic career was over. That injury didn’t just end my time in track—it sent me into a downward spiral personally.
I went from 170 pounds of lean muscle at around 5% body fat to a completely sedentary lifestyle. I became a family man, inactive, unmotivated, and slowly accepted the mindset that my best physical days were behind me. Over the years, the weight piled on, and before I knew it, I had ballooned up to 240 pounds. I had lost hope, confidence, and any belief that my body could ever move—or look—like it once did.
To be honest, I was extremely reluctant to train, let alone hire a professional. I didn’t trust that anyone could understand my injury history or what I had lost. I showed up unmotivated and skeptical.
But from the very first week, I knew Coach Curtis was different.
He didn’t treat me like a broken former athlete or a middle-aged man trying to “get back in shape.” He rebuilt me intelligently—addressing my old quad injury, restoring my mobility, and progressively rebuilding my strength from the ground up. Month after month, I started to blossom physically and mentally. My body responded in ways I hadn’t felt since college.
By six months, something unbelievable happened—I was sprinting again.
Over the course of two years training with Curtis, my strength and mobility didn’t just return—they surpassed my collegiate levels. Aesthetically, my body completely transformed. I dropped from 240 pounds down to 178 pounds, rebuilding a lean, powerful frame that I honestly never thought I’d see again.
Curtis didn’t just give me my body back—he gave me back a part of my identity I thought was gone forever. I’m stronger, more mobile, more confident, and more capable now at 47 than I was in my early 20s.
I would recommend Coach Curtis to anyone—especially former athletes, busy professionals, or anyone who believes their best physical days are behind them. His knowledge, precision, and ability to rebuild the body the right way are unmatched. If you’re serious about reclaiming your strength, mobility, confidence, and identity, Coach Curtis is the coach you want in your corner.

Coach is very professional, motivating and patient. I do mostly Interval Training and Strength and Conditioning with him. He is very knowledgeable and always modifies workouts for me depending on my level of readiness or just my mood of the day LOL. The best part about my experience with Coach is how comfortable he makes me feel. He's very Zen and always smiling and positive.

Training with Dan has honestly been a game-changer for me. I walked in with zero boxing background, but his one-on-one sessions have been exactly what I needed. He’s got this super detailed approach, and I love how dialed-in each session is. He’s always on time, and I get a serious workout in that hour. Plus, my coordination and overall confidence have grown a lot. If you want a coach who really gets you progressing, Dan’s your guy.

OK, here's the deal: I was fat. I mean real fat. Like "my heart cries every time I switch positions on the couch" fat. But that wasn't always the case. I swam and played rugby in college but also remained active and competitive for years in softball, dodgeball and basketball leagues. When I moved to New York, I stopped participating in league competitions and thought I could replace my activity level with gym memberships. Not so much. I got out of shape and, as previously mentioned, fat. After 2 memberships in 3 years, I gave up the gym and tried a new activity to get me back in shape: boxing. Church St. Gym was my one and only stop to get me on the right path. I started with a class two nights a week and then continued with a membership. I haven't looked back since. Josh, Moses, Jason and the rest helped get me started not just on an exercise program, but more importantly, an eating program. It helps that I want to actually fight. Best of all, they treat me with the same respect and attention as if i was an aspiring fighter. As a result, I lost over 50 pounds in about 6 months thanks to their training and regiment. And best of all: it never gets old. I still enjoy going 3-4 times per week, which is about 3-4 times per week more than I ended up going to my old gym.Like any gym, it can be intimidating to hit the floor right away, so I recommend the class. However, you'll soon realize that there are people of all levels, ages, and, yes, both sexes. It will feel like you belong, even if you don't want to hit the ring.
