We will focus on that to help you reach your goals. Looking to PR your next race? We can add speed work into the equation! Regardless of your goal, you will always know what you need to do each day in your training plan. Through my coaching program (The Ultimate Runner Membership), I have had clients PR marathons, finally run pain free, and safely get to their first races healthy and energized. What do you love most about your job?

I absolutely love being able to help people feel good as they do the sport they love. It may sound corny, but making a difference in people’s lives and improving their quality of life when it comes to running, is why I do what I do.

What inspired you to start your own business?

I got into running coaching and pairing yoga and self-myofascial release and I fell victim to an overuse injury after training for my first half-marathon. I knew that there had to be another way to train where I was working towards my goals and preventing injuries at the same time. From here, my passion was born and my business started.

Why should our clients choose you?

I primarily focus on helping runners either overcome existing injuries or prevent future injuries from coming on. I know what it feels like to have to drop out of a race due to an injury. Because of that, Ive spent hundreds of hours on research and continued education to help create a program rocused on injury prevention.

Jamil has been awesome. I've worked with him almost a year, and I've seen him working with other clients. He consistently pushes people to their edge of comfort, but with a high priority on safety. I was coming from a place where I had been very active, but the pandemic and a young child had me falling off everything but cycling. I needed accountability and to be pushed to get back to my previous levels of fitness. Almost a year in, I've put back on 20lbs+ of muscle (part of my goal), and tackled new modalities of movement that weren't part of my historical repertoire. Conversely, I've seen him work with folks who aren't coming in with much/any athletic history, and you can see he builds up peoples confidence through building competence in movement. He's very good at what he does.

Jamil is an incredible trainer and human who really listens to your goals, learns what motivates you, and tailors his programs and workouts to suit your desires and skill levels. Also a great conversationalist if you’re able to talk while catching your breath. Highly recommend working with Jamil!

Working out with Derek is great! He tailors the workouts to your abilities, skill level and what you’re looking for! I especially love that he focuses on weight and strength training using methods I had never tried before! Every workout I feel stronger and like I’ve had a great training session!
