Awesome teacher training! Derik, Brenna, and Susan are very knowledgeable yogis. I would recommend this training to anyone who wants to delve deeper into their own practice and learn how to instruct beginners. It's a very comprehensive training, and I got way more than I expected out of it. It has forever changed my life and yoga practice. At some point when my schedule allows, I plan to complete the 500 hour training with Axis.

I have struggled with an ongoing recurring digestive issue lasting around 20 years. I never considered the rear end car accidents (5 total, down through the years) to have any real consequences that would lead to digestive problems, but as I began to understand, any physical trauma can lead to what appears to be an "unrelated" symptom. I did go ahead and have "Matrix Repaterning" done and it helped. A couple of years later, I decided to have Wendy Berger do a couple of sessions of NET for me, and to my wonder and surprise, she helped me unearth some deep emotional issues connected with my digestive issues. They were released and the recurring gut issues ceased. I have been feeling well for over two years, which is an amazing accomplishment, considering my prior pattern of getting ill every few months for a few weeks. Wendy is gentle, intuitive and wise. Also she reads through all the subterfuge and smoke screens we put up. I am grateful! I have referred family & friends.

Insurance coverage for nutrition counseling depends on your plan type and diagnosis. Here's how to maximize your benefits in Colorado:
Step 1: Check if you have a covered condition
Call your insurance and ask if 'Medical Nutrition Therapy' or 'dietitian services' are covered. Mention your specific condition (diabetes, kidney disease, eating disorder, etc.).
Step 2: Get a referral
Most plans require a referral or prescription from your doctor. Ask for a referral to a 'Registered Dietitian for Medical Nutrition Therapy' and make sure they include your diagnosis code.
Step 3: Find an in-network provider
Insurance pays more (or only) for in-network dietitians. When you submit your request on Bark, add your insurance provider to your requirements so you'll only hear from nutritionists who accept your plan. If your top choice is out-of-network, some plans still offer partial reimbursement.
Step 4: Verify benefits
Before your first appointment, confirm:
No coverage? You can still use HSA/FSA funds for nutrition counseling. Ask about payment plans or sliding scale fees.
Based upon the latest Bark data, market research and regional estimates, the average monthly cost for nutrition counseling in Colorado is approximately $135. Keep in mind that while rates in Glendale are competitive, specialized counseling (like eating disorder treatment or medical nutrition therapy) may carry a higher premium. Many insurance plans cover registered dietitian visits. The national average is around $135 per month, with costs varying based on session frequency, credentials, and your specific nutrition needs.
Estimated investment by payment structure based on your location:
With insurance: Most covered visits have a copay of $15-50 per session instead of the full rate.

Hiring a dietitian is an investment in your long-term health. Beyond just telling you what to eat, a nutrition professional in Glendale teaches you how food affects your body, helping you build habits that prevent chronic disease and improve quality of life for years to come.
Don't be afraid to ask about a professional's background. Credentialed dietitians hold RD or RDN credentials from the Commission on Dietetic Registration and must maintain continuing education. These credentials ensure they follow evidence-based practices and can provide Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT). Note: The term 'nutritionist' is not regulated in most states, so always verify credentials.
If you're on a budget, start by maximizing insurance benefits—get a referral from your doctor if needed for covered conditions. Ask about package pricing, which often reduces the per-session rate. Virtual nutrition counseling is typically 15-25% less expensive than in-office visits. Some dietitians offer lower-cost initial consultations or free discovery calls to ensure you're a good fit before committing.

My approach is about finding a plan that works for YOU given your life circumstances and health challenges...My background is in the study of how the body responds to movement, stress and the foods we eat (and drink) with and without health complications (obesity, diabetes, high cholesterol, irritable bowel syndrome, for example). The field of nutrition is ever changing for a variety of reasons and we are exposed to so many different nutrition approaches - it can be confusing to identify what is best for you! My goal is to identify the best eating pattern for your specific needs and then create a plan that works for you to ultimately improve and maintain your health. I continue to expand my knowledge in the area of Integrative and Functional Nutrition which looks deeper, to the root cause of whatever health concern arises and addressing that rather than 'fixing' symptoms. My approach is very much holistic and will review your exercise, sleep and stress management habits which can ultimately influence your eating patterns and behaviors. Merging my background, experience and understanding of you, I will be your partner in discovering YOUR healthiest self!
It is becoming more evident how important the foods we eat influence our health and longevity (how long we live). For example, more and more research is demonstrating the influence particular foods have on the bacteria in our gastrointestinal system.
Seeing my clients reach their goals, and maintain habits they did not think they could do!
Witnessing my clients feel better as a result of the changes they have made.
I got frustrated working in typical hospital dietitian roles because I was not able to spend much time with my patients to properly assess and counsel them. Consequently, I was unable to really understand the causes of their dietary challenges in order to support them in formulating appropriate, relevant dietary recommendations.
It was difficult to individualize a dietary pattern given the lack of time with patients.
I am very much about meeting you where you are and working with you to identify small steps to get you closer to the ideal eating pattern (and healthy habits) for you.
We all struggle to shift our behaviors - it is natural to resist the change. My approach is to set small intentions/goals and build on them. Sometimes we do not reach goals - this is not a failure, it is mor about not having found the right 'recipe' or approach for you to meet the intention.
Changing behavior is a process which involves our mindset - this takes time, and my philosophy is that my role is to guide you through the process, cheering you on and being your accountability person so you can be living the healthy life you desire.
I provide Nutrition Therapy both in person and virtually.
