I believe what sets me apart as a coach and a trainer is my ability to be empathetic to the vulnerability and mental blocks that often come with the struggle of weight gain and unhealthy living. I pull from first hand experience as I had to take on a massive weight loss journey myself. I equally practice confronting my clients comfort zones and challenging them to embrace the uncomfortable.

About two weeks ago, I followed a post Craig made in a foodies group to Thrive. Though I their waffle flavors rotate and I haven't caught up with the lemon blueberry one, I was very interested in the free Cardio Drumming class. My friend Abril Navarro decided to join me and we're hooked! 4 classes in, and we're already recruiting more friends to join us. Not only the coaches, but the other drummers are so welcoming and friendly... some already greet us by name! I love being able to order a shake and have it ready for me when class is over. They rent out the equipment, and it is free... so NO REASON NOT TO TRY IT! Great people, great class, delicious shakes... hope to see you there soon!

Gregory Scott
I started seeing Scott about 2 months ago. Since that short time and 4 visits later, I am sleeping soundly and through the night, I’ve effortlessly lost 20 pounds and I feel better than I have in years (and we’re still in the early healing/balance stages) Scott’s holistic, whole-body approach to optimal wellness sets him apart from anyone I’ve been to in my 60 years if life! I’m so happy and more peaceful knowing I’m in Scott’s highly capable care!

Common specialties available:
Good news: nutrition counseling is increasingly covered by insurance. In California, if you have a diagnosed medical condition that affects nutrition, your plan likely includes registered dietitian visits as a benefit.

How to use your insurance:
If you don't have a covered condition, you may still use HSA or FSA funds to pay for nutrition counseling.
Based upon the latest Bark data, market research and regional estimates, the average monthly cost for nutrition counseling in California is approximately $135. Monthly costs typically reflect the dietitian's credentials, specialization, and session frequency, with virtual appointments often providing a more budget-friendly alternative to in-person visits. The national average is around $135 per month, with costs varying based on session frequency, credentials, and your specific nutrition needs.

With insurance: Most covered visits have a copay of $15-50 per session instead of the full rate.

A credentialed dietitian provides expertise that generic diet apps and wellness influencers cannot. By addressing your specific health concerns—whether managing blood sugar or healing your gut—you'll see faster, safer, and more sustainable results than any one-size-fits-all program.
Safety and expertise start with credentials. Ensure your provider is a Registered Dietitian (RD/RDN) with the Commission on Dietetic Registration. If you have a medical condition like diabetes, kidney disease, or GI issues, an RD is often required for insurance coverage. For specialized needs—eating disorder recovery, sports performance, or pediatric nutrition—look for board-certified specialists.
One of the best ways to reduce costs is the hybrid approach: schedule monthly check-ins with a nutrition counselor to adjust your plan, then use those guidelines between sessions. Many dietitians also offer lower-cost group programs for weight management or condition-specific support. Additionally, use your HSA or FSA funds—nutrition counseling with an RD typically qualifies.
