Hiring Brian to help train our 70 lb. 8 month old lab was the Best thing we ever did. I have had dogs my whole life but I quickly learned that a labrador is a very different kind of dog. Brian taught us the things that really matter in day-to-day life with our puppy. We had a huge problem with her play biting and Brian taught us ways to stop the behavior and it worked. He also showed us how to train her to come when called, to stay, walk beside us and to sit when we stop, and many other great things. I highly highly highly recommend hiring Brian. We absolutely love Suzanne. She is so warm, kind and knowledgeable. Our dog Loki loves her. Loki is a very high energy 9 month old german shepherd husky mix, a very crazy boy. We hired Suzanne because I'm pregnant & we need Loki trained and under control by the time the baby is born. That being said, Loki has already learned how to sit, stay, come, & off. He is listening far better in just 2.5 sessions. She's also been training us to train Loki! Amazing trainer. She's the best, seriously. Highly recommend!! Matheu from University of Canines trained our Aussie Doodle puppy to be our service dog. We’ve always had dogs in our home, but Matheu taught us how to stop annoying behaviors like barking and jumping. He trained Izzie to walk in step with us on a leash as well as obedience behaviors like sit, down, leave it, wait, etc. She also has good recall. Matheu asked us about our lifestyle and how we planned to fit Izzie into our activities and then he trained her to behave in those situations. He trained her at our home along with airports, stores, restaurants, and the park. He always asked how she was doing and even came back to retrain when we told him she would run away when the door was open. She no longer does that. Matheu told us he is available to come back and help with any other issues that come up. Matheu is also knowledgeable about all things related to puppies like food, chew toys, characteristics of breeds, etc. We enjoy working with Matheu and we are enjoying our puppy more because of what he taught us. My wife and I have rescued for 25 years. We’ve always done it our way, right or wrong, believing that love makes a good dog. It’s not always that easy. We currently have 4 dogs, the youngest two being Great Pyrenees. Pyrs are smart, big, strong and stubborn. Thor, our 125 lb 1 1/2 year old male was showing signs of resource guarding and even some aggression. My wife had become somewhat afraid of him. He was “my boy” and to lose him would kill me.
We labored over finding help but didn’t know what else to do. We made a few calls and got recommendations and decided on Theresa. When we got her quote we thought “ OMG, that’s a lot of money”! Then we got other quotes and realized that this is what a trainer costs. So we began our adventure with Theresa, somewhat skeptically. All I can say is WOW! It’s amazing what a good trainer can do. Literally, in minutes after her arrival, we saw behavioral changes. Over the course of the next few weeks, the changes in our dogs were amazing. They behaved, they listened, they responded on command...it was a miracle.
Having dogs is work! It takes commitment and consistency. Theresa taught us that. Months later when we had an issue with Thor resource guarding, we called our Houdini and she responded immediately. Once again Theresa came out and observed. She had to remind us that this isn’t magic, but that WE needed to be retrained and continue our work.
Dogs are supposed to make you happy, not stress you out. We had become lazy and it showed in our Pyrs. Once Theresa pointed out what was wrong, we got our act together again and our kids responded in a way that was beyond words. Our big strong, stubborn kids are so well behaved, so loving and make us so happy. Theresa is amazing. It’s not magic, it’s not a miracle. Theresa is a great trainer who understands dog behavior and communicates their needs to the owners. The money that we spent isn’t even an issue now. In fact it’s the best money that we’ve spent in a long time. Theresa is amazing to work with and the proof is in the pudding.
