Later I went into DJing night clubs, lounges along side private parties on my own. My style and angle of DJing transformed tremendously from playing mainly recent hits that could fit into a record crate or two and now recent years playing a much wider variety of decades, genera selections and edits because of technology innovation in our DJ industry allowed this flexibility and opened my creativity like never before. There's a plethora of DJ's flooding the market space which provides both good & not so aspects. It's good because there's plenty of options for clients to choose from, not so because it could be overwhelming for you (the client) to weed through the sea of DJ's trying to figure out who could represent you or your company best. I have professional wireless mic available that's compliant under the new FCC rules released. My setup is always ascetically pleasing, organized and elegant. I'm the ONLY DJ in NYC with a foliage facade which sets your event way apart from the average visually. Also I only use battery powered uplighting controlled via DMX for setting ambiance to any color of your themed event and Gobo to display company brand or event cause. *No Weddings & No Karaoke Events.
The secret is understanding every single event DJing will never be alike. Even if it's the same venues with similar crowd on a different night the there are differences. Gauging various demographics through assessing emotions & actions while playing songs you can kind of feel where the group stands with genres of music and artists of interest, then I can build a road map from there to take the crowd through a musical rollercoaster of fun. In short it's not a one size fits all technique, the chef has to taste and make sure the dish is great along the way.
