I'm a new york city native that moved I had moved from NJ to Virginia about a year ago and for the past year I've been so sad pizza isn't as good here then it is in NYC/nj.
I decided to come here on lunch sceptical because alot of places claim to serve my style pizza but fall short....
This place does not.....honestly on my first bite I was so happy because it has been everything I have been craving from pizza since I have been down here. I'm so happy....i will definitely be coming back.
Great place for wine, beer, bread, and some other foods. Robert knows so much about wine. He goes out and looks for those hidden gems that are very good but not expensive. He hosts wine tastings and occasional wine-themed dinners.
Some of the best BBQ I’ve ever had. Juicy, no fat. Just the right amount of kick from a light sauce. Sides delicious also- collard greens, marinated slaw, pinto beans and baked beans. Very clean!! If you are in Charlottesville, this is a must !! We’ll be back.
We chose The Space Downtown for my son’s rehearsal dinner, and couldn’t have been happier with how everything went. The venue itself is was spacious for our 60 guests and had that great Cville vibe we were looking for; Chef Tim Burgess worked with us to plan a delicious menu to match our price and theme; and Event Manager Laura Price was responsive and patient with my many questions leading up to our day. On the day of, we had plenty of time before the festivities to decorate and set up our A/V equipment (you can rent from them if you don’t have your own); all the event staff were professional, competent and charming; the food tasted and looked as AMAZING as it had sounded when Tim described it; the bartenders were generous with the alcohol in the drinks; and the final bill came in nearly to the penny of what they had estimated. The only thing to be aware of is that your guests will be competing for parking with Downtown Mall events/venues, which may be an issue for guests who are mobility challenged and/or weather (we had both). Overall, we had a wonderful party and I would highly recommend The Space Downtown for your event!
I've been to Commonwealth twice now, once for brunch and once for dinner, and had a good experience both times. The interior is wonderfully modern and welcoming, while the skybar is a good, casual alternative if you're in the mood to sit outside. I can't say much about the menu, because I'm a cheapskate and ordered the cheapest possible options, but what we did try was excellent. For brunch, I had the chicken and waffles. It wasn't the best I've ever had, but it was still good. For dinner, the onion haystack appetizer was a great twist on typical onion rings, and the fried chicken sandwich was amazing. I'll probably never be able to justify spending $20+ on one of the other entrees, but I might come back for brunch or to get another taste of that awesome chicken sandwich.
Wow, Everytime someone mentions Crozet Pizza my mouth waters with anticipation for the perfectly crispy and mildly chewy crust, the complex and slightly sweet sauce, the perfect portion of cheese, and all of those gourmet toppings. Try the Fiesty Italian, It comes with pepperoni, Seasoned italian sausage slices, pickled banana peppers and fresh basil chiffonade. Disclaimer: You will get addicted, so watch out.
