What makes a great website?

A great website has 5 important features that can help ensure that it becomes your silent sales partner. In our experience, here's some of the most important features we recommend...

1. It loads fast. We can't underestimate the importance to a fast loading site. Google recently started penalizing sites that take longer than 3 seconds to fully load and started pushing them off the first page. So page speed is very important.

2. It's mobile responsive. With new technologies available to us now, a website should resize to whatever screen size pulls it up. It should look beautiful whether visiting the site on a mobile phone, a tablet, or a computer screen. If the phone visitor is having to pinch to zoom in order to read the content, that site is NOT mobile responsive.

3. Site should be ADA and GDPR Compliant. There are moments when an asset can turn into a liability. Just like driving a car without insurance is a major liability and also illegal, a website should have all it's legal disclaimers in place or else it places the business in jeopardy. Pages such as "Terms of Service", "Privacy Policy", and making it ADA compliant are very important to avoid a costly lawsuit.

4. Have engaging content. It's very important that a website have engaging content and good articles that the visitor can read upon landing on the site. Many users are simply looking for good information and if the site offers that, they will hang around longer on the site, which gives the site a boost in Google's eyes.

5. Make it easy for visitors to contact you. The most frustrating part of visiting a website is having to hunt around on how to contact the business. Many times it's hidden away in just one page, the "Contact Us" page. If you're a local business, your phone number should be displayed in every page and there should be several contact forms in it as well. This makes it easy for your prospect to contact you and they will mostly likely do it.

If you follow a few of these recommendations, you will have a great website that will become your silent sales partner.

What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?

I always ask my client...

1. What is your business about and what message are you trying to communicate to your visitor?

2. Who is your ideal customer / client / patient?

3. What do you want to your prospect to do when they land on your site? (call you, set an appointment, email you)

4. If we are a good fit for you, how soon do you want us to start on this project?

What do you love most about your job?

I could say that I love the techie aspect of it because I've always been very techie. But the fact is that I love the feeling of satisfaction that I get when I've delivered the results that a client was looking for. In an industry that's full of flakes and scammers, it's hard to stand out from the crowd and deliver results, but my reputation proves that at Business eBoost, I strive to make my clients happy.

That to me is the greatest reward I can hope for. Knowing that every client I serve is happy with my service is why I do what I do.

What inspired you to start your own business?

When I was 18, I played around with html and learned how to build my first site. It was totally exciting and I loved the challenges as well as the rewards when a project comes together. I then figured I could help other people with websites, so I started helping business owners.

As time has passed, I've leaned to master website creation as well as digital marketing.

At Business eBoost, we also do Social Media Marketing, Search Engine Marketing and Optimization, Video Creation, and Reputation Management and Marketing services.

Any business owner who wants to know more can feel free to contact us for a quick chat.

Why should our clients choose you?

At Business eBoost, we have one philosophy... "Serve the client with dedication, passion, and integrity. Give them the 5-star service they deserve so that in the end, the client is happy to recommend us to their business associates."

Every time a client leaves us a positive review or refers us to their peers, it's a testament of how hard we work to deliver that 5-star experience the client deserves.

I personally am always willing to bend over backwards for my clients because I realize that I only exist thanks to the client's business.

I serve to live and I live to serve.

It's hard to choose a good provider, especially since there are so many to choose from, but all I say is just give me this one chance to serve you and I promise that I won't let you down.

Jaime Ojeda, Owner
Business eBoost.

Web Design FAQs

How much does web design cost? This is something that can be incredibly difficult to put a figure on due to the nature of the service. There are also differences based on whether you are looking to work with a freelancer or a web design agency, and also whether you need a large, complicated site or something more simple.

We can help you to connect with the right designer to suit your needs. A clear idea of what you need, and how many pages and features are required, will be influential when it comes to pricing. This will help you to get an accurate quote for web design.

These two terms may seem like they are used interchangeably but they are two different things. A designer will be focused on the visual and creating a UI to suit the user, whereas a web developer is usually focused on the actual core of the website, making it function and using coding to enable it to do what it is supposed to.

When working with a web designer, if you want the whole package of a fully finished and functioning website, check that this is something they can offer before you employ their services. Make sure you have understood if they are offering web design or development, or both.

  • Responsive - A responsive web page design means that the site is viewable on a number of devices. The design automatically sizes to the screen and the designer doesn’t need to make formats for different devices and desktops.

  • Liquid or Fluid - This is a style of design that will shrink or stretch to the shape of the browser, and the page will look enlarged or shrunk, rather than items being rearranged. The size of the items in the design alter in relation to one another depending on the browser being used.

  • Fixed design - Fixed pages do not alter according to the browser automatically. On some devices such as tablets this can make it harder to see the content as you need to scroll around the page or pinch the screen in order to zoom in on sections. Though it is sometimes essential, fixed design is becoming less common.

Whether you are working with a freelancer or a big agency, they will have a portfolio for you to view. This allows you to see other, similar projects they have worked on and decide if they have the skills you need.

There are a number of web design certifications and they may be happy to share any they have attained, but there isn’t one standardized industry body.

If you are worried about a designer’s credentials you can also check their feedback from other clients, which you can view on their Bark profile.

Should you work with a freelancer or an agency? This is one of the decisions you need to make when looking to plan a web design project.

Working with a freelance Web Designer
This may be an option that can save you money. Freelancers are often able to charge less as they don’t have the same overheads as an agency.

Working with a Web Design agency
Web design agencies may have a bigger set of skills to draw upon than a freelancer as they will usually have a number of staff and designers working for them. They may also be able to show you a bigger portfolio, but you can expect to pay more when using an agency.

Definitely! One of the advantages of hiring a web designer is that they are able to provide services to their clients from any location. However, if your website is for a local audience, then you might want to hire someone nearby rather than further afield, so that they better understand your target market.
