What’s the secret to taking a great photograph?

Actually look and see what you are photographing. Get it right in camera! Practice, critique your own work, learn from your mistakes, more practice, more critiques, etc. Learn from historic art, master photographer's works, take classes and workshops, join camera clubs, etc. A single great photo can be sheer luck, but being able to routinely providing great photos requires skill and practice. A great photo is 80% photographer and 20% camera!

What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?

A photograph is a communication to the person that views it. What do you want your photograph to say about you? That non-verbal communication sets the mood of the image you want to capture and helps define the background, wardrobe, pose, lighting, etc.

What do you love most about your job?

The challenge of being able to successfully master any photographic situation I encounter and walk away with photos I feel good about. It's also about people and making them feel comfortable in front of the camera. Once they're relaxed I can get some genuine expressions to photograph.

What inspired you to start your own business?

After many years of the corporate life, I was finally able to focus on photography as a full-time pursuit. During my previous business life I provided part-time photography services, so 5-years in this full-time photography is only a small portion of my total photographic experience.

Why should our clients choose you?

Because I work with clients to understand what they want to achieve with the images I create. It's a collaborative effort plus I believe in providing high quality results.

Can you provide your services online or remotely? If so, please add details.

It's a mixture. The photo session is in person, but the rest can be accomplished online.

What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?

I'll adjust my approach to the client's comfort level. If that requires masks and distancing, we'll do that during the session. The mass majority of people in Florida no longer wear masks, so it's a minor issue in my market.
