In a busy area like Mobile, the biggest benefit is personalized, medical-grade advice. You aren't just paying for meal plans—you're paying for a professional who understands your health conditions, reads your lab work, and creates strategies that work with your real life, not against it.
A qualified nutrition professional should be a Registered Dietitian (RD) or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN). These credentials require a bachelor's degree (minimum), supervised practice hours, passing a national exam, and ongoing continuing education. Look for additional certifications like CEDRD (eating disorders), CSSD (sports nutrition), CDE/CDCES (diabetes), or CSP (pediatrics) based on your needs. In Alabama, verify state licensing requirements as well.
To keep costs down, check your insurance first—many plans now cover registered dietitian visits for conditions like diabetes, obesity, eating disorders, and kidney disease. If your plan doesn't cover nutrition counseling, ask about sliding scale fees, payment plans, or group nutrition classes. Virtual appointments are often more affordable than in-person sessions.

Winsome Health Coaching is built on the big idea that we all have the ability to make healthy lifestyle changes. Through my own experiences, I have developed methods around nutrition, movement and healthy lifestyle coaching that is designed around the principle of keeping it simple, while always meeting you where you are currently at. I also believe in living the same lifestyle that I coach from, so my perspective comes from a place of day to day experience in healthy and sustainable habits. This allows for an empathetic client centered approach that is always going to have a base understanding that "you know yourself better than anyone". We will collaborate together. We will celebrate together all of the big and small wins as you develop the sustainable lifestyle you have always strived for.
Being there for a client during a light bulb moment that changes everything. Its so exciting to see someone go from doubt to knowingness and holding space for someone to be able to connect up with this while we collaborate together.
Years ago I lived a lifestyle that was not sustainable for the long term at all. It took some very serious health circumstances to prompt change for me. During this shift, I didnt really grasp just how significant this was until years later I looked back at the lifestyle I had created and thought to myself - finally, now this is sustainable. I knew how difficult it had been for me to shift and if I hadnt had strong people in my life that supported me, I am not quite sure how it would have turned out. Being there for others during their own times of health challenge is what it's all about for me, so I made it my mission to help people with lifestyle change.
In one word, empathy. For me personally, I have seen a lot of struggle that has ultimately allowed me to see things through a different lens. Its because of this, that I connect with others so well. The relationships that I form with friends, family, clients or anyone is all centric around understanding the pains and struggles that we all go through. Its this understanding that helps me reflect on how difficult change is and just how important it is to meet people where they are at during their own struggles.
Yes, we can provide services online or remotely. We will use Zoom primarily to work with clients. However, we are flexible to use other modalities that may be more comfortable for those that we work with. We understand that the camera can be intimidating, and we always want to be aware of these things when working with clients to create the best possible chance for success. All documentation, forms, guides, program content, etc will be housed in a central repository for that client only as everybody's experience is tailored just for them.
The majority of experience has been remote, so there has not been a demand to alter practice. For any session that may be local, whether its in home training, consults or education, we will adopt mask protocols and adhere to the six feet guidance recommendations per the establishment and or client requests.
Good quality food is important to our personal health and wellbeing for sure, however it is not the only thing that is important here. One of the ways that we get frustrated with ourselves is to lock ourselves into a certain way of living with no flexibility. I believe in sustainability. Diets are typically not sustainable long term and I feel the goal with all of these methods is to build a framework so that we can live more of a hybrid type of life where we allow ourselves freedom to live more of what I like to call 80/20. This means you have some latitude to live with a bit more convenience in that 20% realm, while the majority of time you are doing things that are more in alignment with your goals. Living in the 20% doesn't necessarily mean abandoning your whole approach, it could mean just a small shift from normal or it could mean dining out with less restrictions. Either way, frustration is lessened as we try to navigate through an environment that is built on speed and convenience.
