Decades!
When I was in Cub Scouts, we had a Magic Show for our Blue and Gold Banquet. I was SO fascinated that I decided then and there I had to learn how to make the impossible seem possible. I found a book in the school library that got me started. My grandmothers gave me some money for my first props. Before I knew it, I was being invited to entertain at parties!
I begin with fun "warm up" stunts to build anticipation and establish rapport. Next, there is a segment of flashy illusions done to upbeat music that leaves everyone scratching their heads and wondering HOW did he do that? This is GREAT! I can't wait to see what happens next!
The remainder of the program is a fast-paced mix of colorful tricks and comical participation honoring the birthday child and keeping everyone involved and inspired.
What better way to spend the day than to make memories that will last a lifetime? As I like to say, "I put the HAPPY in your BIRTHDAY!"
As my experience grew enhancing special events, I wanted to keep expanding what I could offer my audiences. I got hired to perform at Six Flags over Georgia, which gave me a taste of the fulfillment I could have doing daily shows.
I studied theater at the University of Georgia and got a lot of great coaching through by attending magic conventions and reading books by the top children's entertainers in the world. My uncle arranged a tour in Europe for me, which was amazing experience.
After college, I wanted to reach children across the Southeast, so I learned how to do assembly and family night programs for Elementary Schools. Later, I got to perform for a couple of years at Walt Disney World at one of their resorts.
In order to take care of my family, I find that freelancing allows me to base my work on the QUALITY of what I do rather the volume of hours. This way, I am always at the peak of my enthusiasm as I bring wonder and surprise to each group of kids that comes to celebrate!
I am passionate about every program I do - energized by the smiles and laughter of each group of kids who participate. I never stop learning and cherish every opportunity to share the BEST of everything I have seen and developed over the years.
