I offer a range of training options, including everything from basic puppy training to advanced behavior modification with aggressive or reactive dogs, and everything in between! My approach immerses the dog in a structured environment with balanced packmates creating the right kind of social experiences. Programs range from a short series of private lessons up to 'board and train' programs where your dog will spend two or three weeks with me as a member of my pack learning basic obedience and proper social skills, not to mention self control.

I chose Dogtheory due to the fact that I was impressed with what he told me about his experience in training dogs. I have found his training to be quite comprehensive and reassuring to both my dog and myself. I would strongly recommend Dogtheory as I have found the trainer to be quite knowledgeable, patient, and reasonable.

Matt and his family are truly amazing!! I sent my 4 month old lab/retriever puppy for obedience training and he came home a completely different dog! They cared for him like he was their own, and spent time going through his training with me thoroughly until I felt comfortable! They still reach out to check in on Ruger even after 2 months of him being back home! I highly recommend using Bethel Woods Kennels if your looking for someone who has a passion for this line of work!!

We rescued a 2.5 yr old female Ausi Shepard that had to have been a breeder dog. Most likely had spent her time in a crate and had experience in socializing or the outside world. She was fearful and somewhat aggressive.
We spent the full eight weeks with Dennis and he was able to get our Abby to mindfully respond and become more at ease with outside surroundings. We worked very well hand and hand and paw and paw together.

When We’re on Vacation, Our Dog is on Vacation Heidi Casey of ChattDog Trainer came into our lives almost two years ago, after we adopted our ten-month-old pup, Fafnir, from a local animal shelter. Heidi came to our house once a week to train Fafnir--and us. Heidi is a graduate of Pat Miller’s training academy. She has a passion for dogs and her work. She taught us to work with Fafnir using commands and positive reinforcement. She provided handouts for training Fafnir between sessions. We learned the meaning of high-quality treats-- meatballs and cheese in Fafnir’s case. He loved every minute of his training! Fast forward a year. My husband and I traveled to Oregon for two weeks of vacation. We arranged for Fafnir to stay a local boarding facility. The staff were loving, kind, and professional. But Fafnir didn’t do well. So, this Spring, we decided to look into alternative arrangements. We had been in touch with Heidi by Facebook and learned she had expanded her business to include boarding. Now, when we’re on vacation, Fafnir is on vacation--at Heidi’s. He’s given the run of her dog-friendly house. During the day, Fafnir, Smokey, and Heidi hike, run, and ford streams. Fafnir gets extra training on these outings. At night Fafnir curls up with Smokey for a well-earned snooze. Heidi sends us frequent updates by text or email, including photos of Fafnir having the time of his life. When Fafnir is with Heidi and Smokey, we know he is well cared for and having FUN. We’re so grateful for that peace of mind. Carol and Frank White June 2019

I love being able to show people ways to interact with their dogs that opens a whole new world of communication and engagement. People don't get a dog expecting to have issues. They don't expect daily stress, marital issues, home damage, and headaches. What did you imagine when you got your dog? My goal is to bring that image to life, and to keep dogs out of shelters.
There are so many trainers out there who claim they can provide results, and usually those trainers have limited themselves to one type of training method. I don't believe in a "one size fits all" approach to dog training. Dogs, just like people, are unique in the ways that they think and learn. I decided to launch my own branch of The Dog Wizard because I have access to all of the most modern, world renowned training methods, and have the freedom to discuss which approach my clients are comfortable with. At the end of the day, consistency is key, and if the homework matches your lifestyle, it's much easier to accomplish your training goals and see results!
I am a member of the International Association of Canine Professionals (IACP) and an AKC certified evaluator. I've been working with dogs as long as I can remember, but professionally I've been in this field for just under 10 years. I offer lifetime support to all of my program graduates. It's my philosophy that dogs do not make mistakes, they simply haven't been taught how to act in the human environment. It's our job to teach our expectations to provide clear communication for a happy dog, and to build a strong bond between the person and their pet.
Jumpstart sessions are great for folks who don't have time to practice each day with their dog and stay consistent in classes. We have online support on our Private Facebook groups for between in-person sessions. We do not have a program that is solely online.
We ask that everyone bring a mask to class and use it when in close proximity to a class member or trainer. Dog's read your facial expressions so you can remove the mask when properly social distanced. We have plenty of room to spread out and work outside in open-air in downtown Chattanooga. Our outside training area has an overhead awning, coverage from sun & rain. Hand sanitizer is on site, and we encourage our class members to wash their hands before & after class.
