We hired DJ King for our outdoor wedding ceremony and indoor reception. He was referred to us by a relative who was also planning a wedding and chose DJ King, so Larry gave us each a referral discount which was nice. We booked him about a year in advance- he always responded kindly and very timely to the many emails I sent him during the months of planning. He would say "your wish is my command" and he backed it up. I had very specific plans and versions of songs I wanted Larry to play and he fulfilled everything I asked of him. He has a very extensive catalog of songs! We wanted a short and sweet ceremony and an action-packed reception, and without Larry's expertise and talent everything wouldn't have flowed as well as it did. We got married at a private residence so Larry was able to come early the day before the wedding as well as the day of the wedding and set-up all of his equipment. His professionalism and passion for his work is very obvious. He totally gets that he is an integral part of some of the happiest days of people's lives, and he takes that privilege very seriously. We used Larry's beautiful purple up lights which really set off the beauty of the reception hall. And his photo booth is a must!! Our guests enjoyed it so much. We actually just recently got our copies of all of the photo booth pictures and I love them so much. They capture all the candid fun. I just couldn't have been happier with DJ King and his crew. I like to let the music do the talking. I try to achieve a good balance of announcing the progession of the party and encouraging guests to dance and participate without talking on the mic just to hear myself talk. With thirty years of experience, success and testimonials under my belt, I believe I had found the right balance. Guests want to have fun, they are just looking for a professional to guide them through the process.
Depending on the event and the audience, I try to establish a rapport with the guests/audience. For a wedding, I like to work up through the decades, so that all ages are represented. I also work to increase the tempo of the music as the evening progesses. I like to inject a little humor along the way as well!
I love seeing people dance and have a great time. When I perform live, I love to hear audience members tell me that I certain song that I played takes them back to a special time in their life and brought back great memories. For weddings and corporate events, I love having guests thank me at the end and telling me how much they enjoyed themselves.
I have always loved muscic, both as a DJ and a musician. I started out playing DJ music for friends at parties and playing in bands. I just kept going and trying to improve and increase my client base. I worked in the coporate world as a financial advisor for over ten years.
