My wife and I worked with Ed in 2016 on a major remodel of our home and were so happy with his work that when we wanted to add an addition to our home in 2018 (in-law apartment), we did not hesitate to bring our project to Ed. Ed visited us in 2016 for a 3-hour consultation. He listened carefully to what we wanted and gave relevant and sound advice that demonstrated his deep knowledge and construction experience. When we hired Ed, he was always very responsive to our questions. His use of “GoTo Meeting” and expertise in “Chief Architect” software allowed us to discuss the preliminary designs and see modifications in real time. Ed was very creative and came up with great design ideas. We moved the kitchen from an inside room (no windows) to an outside wall with windows. Ed helped us design our new kitchen, office, mud room (prior kitchen) and bathroom. He also designed our addition (in-law apartment) which included a kitchen, living room, two bedrooms, laundry room, bathroom and basement. Ed supplied the Architectural Plans for all of our projects to our General Contractor. We have a 1911 home in a historic district, which means that the Historic District Commission (HDC) needs to review any modifications that change the exterior of our house. The HDC had an issue with a ramp we were planning for the addition. I spoke to Ed on the phone and within the next 2 hours we had a solution and a set of plans that satisfied the HDC’s concerns. This is one of the many reasons why we highly recommend Ed Buckingham.
