I am a freelance photographer who specializes in 35mm film, though I shoot both digital and film for my clients. My background is in documentary photography, but as my practice has grown I’ve been drawn to the genres of boudoir, engagement, and fashion. All require a openness and sensitivity to the needs of my clients, who run the gamut from seasoned models to first-time photo subjects. I find beauty everywhere, and very much enjoy placing my clients in just the right light to capture them as they are, but with cinematic flare. My love of film has led me to explore experimental techniques, so if my clients express an interest in those offerings, I can provide photos bathed in rainbow hues with rich textures.
I love getting to know such a large variety of people. I try to set up an open and trusting atmosphere during my shoots, and engage my clients in conversations about themselves. I’ve had shoots with strangers in which we go from talking about their job to their view on religion to more sensitive topics like their body insecurities. I think the fact that I’m learning about them at the same time I’m photographing them helps me to better capture some part of their essence.
I’ve been doing photography since college, so the leap to create my own business out of it felt very natural. I enjoy the freedom and flexibility it’s granted me.
