Describe your creative process.

My basic approach is to find out the client's concept for the design, as well as asking them what feeling they want their product to evoke. I may suggest some ideas, as well. (I'm a very visual person, and I tend to think of promotional pieces like a "movie poster" for a product.) Once a design idea is settled upon, I create a few drafts or "concept pieces" for the client to review. Their feedback tells me if I'm heading in the right direction in terms of design. I'll create the piece and send a low-res version for the client to review and ask for feedback. Any requested adjustments or changes are made, and another low-res version sent for approval. Once a design is approved, I send the final, high-resolution image to the client in whichever format is desired/needed (.TIF, .JPG, .PDF, etc.). All original source files are also available, should the client want them.

What information do you need from a client before you can start work?

I need to know the specific dimensions of the product and how the images I provide will be used. The specifications for an image being used in an HD 720 video are different from an 8.5x11" flyer being printed on 100# gloss paper with full bleeds. If you have pre-written copy and photos I'll need those, as well (and if you need me to obtain royalty-free art or photos for your project, let me know).

What do you love most about your job?

The creative process and hearing a client say, "Wow! That looks great."

What inspired you to start your own business?

I've always loved creating and I quickly determined that publishing my own books was more advantageous than writing for other companies. When I first got involved in publishing, I didn't have the money to hire different creatives, so I taught myself a lot of necessary skills and wore a lot of hates. Graphic design was one of those skills and I loved it.

Why should our clients choose you?

When it comes to building on your brand or creating a promotional piece or product packaging, I have several advantages going for me. I have Speed, Experience, a Love of technology, and something that I call “Visionovation.”

Speed: My turn-around time on projects is faster than a pit crew at the Indy 500! Combine that with a high-speed Internet connection and you’ll be seeing deliverables in no time. I have literally churned out brand campaigns, including full social media platform integration, as quickly as 72 hours.

Experience: I have nearly a quarter century of experience in the publishing and marketing industries. I've done work for government agencies, corporations, publishers, and nonprofit corporations.

Love of Technology: I'm a nerd, and I love technology. I'm the “early adopter.” I love the latest software, high-speed Internet connections, and 3-D printers. Not only do I know how to create and deliver, I know how to do it quickly (and digitally).

Visionovation: The Merriam-Webster dictionary defines vision as “the act or power of imagination; unusual discernment or foresight,” and innovation as “the introduction of something new; a new idea.” That’s my philosophy in a nutshell. I use my imagination and foresight to develop new ideas and I bring those ideas to fruition. I am a visionary, plain and simple.
