Mont Fennel Films

Mont Fennel Films is an award-winning Boston video production company known for exceptional storytelling. We produce, direct, write and edit compelling productions for companies, institutions and nonprofits. Clients leverage Mont's 16-year background as a TV business reporter in Boston, and twelve years as a web video producer. I've covered hundreds of industries, producing nearly 5000 stories for television and the web. My presentations have received wide praise, receiving 21 Emmy nominations and four Emmy awards for news-gathering, and six Telly awards for web video. When creating a video, it’s all about the story. How your message is conveyed makes or breaks your presentation. MF Films' extensive storytelling experience can cut through the clutter. My superior storytelling, interviewing and editing experience create engaging and visually aesthetic videos that inspire and motivate viewers. I dive deep into the details of what needs to be communicated and how best to use creative elements to amplify the message. Having interviewed more than 10,000 people, I know how to get the best out of people on camera. I work with a regular stable of the area’s top videographers and other production specialists to superbly film and enhance productions. Working independently allows MF Films to have low overhead, keep costs down, and price productions below most competitors. And clients benefit from a simplified workflow; they engage with just one person who has responsibility for designing the creative treatment, budgeting, scripting, hiring production support, directing, editing and communicating throughout the process. Clients have included Fortune 500 companies, mid-sized companies, small businesses, academic institutions and a variety of nonprofits. Examples of my work can be viewed at https://www.montfennelfilms.com. I’m happy to send specific links to productions that may emulate the style you are looking for.

Can you provide your services online or remotely? If so, please add details.

We are using a technology to record interviews remotely, eliminating the need for in-person contact during the pandemic.

The software, called OpenReel, allows us to remotely monitor and conduct an interview using a person’s smartphone. It provides a much better image quality than recording via Skype, Zoom, or WebEx, which are limited by one’s Internet connection and often look grainy, pixelated, or skip frames.

This is an excerpt of a production we just completed for the Boston Foundation. It’s a tribute video to their CEO, who is retiring after 20 years. We interviewed six people from their homes, including former MA Governor Deval Patrick:

With OpenReel, a smartphone captures the recording, and the interview is conducted and monitored live through the software. First, we guide the subject to pick and set up the best background, camera angle and lighting. Second, we direct the interview. Third, we upload the segment to the cloud, where it is viewable by the client and downloaded for editing.

OpenReel allows a client to sit in on the recording along with the director and producer. It also allows us to remotely set up the focus, exposure, audio levels, and recording mode (resolution and frames per second).

Please contact me to learn more, including pricing. Thanks.
