I am surprised to find that I am the first to review Lewis and Bark. I have a Sheltie and an orange and white short hair cat and they are both the love of my life. I found it very difficult to trust anyone who I did not know to care for them but I recently found that I had to leave town and was in search of some in-home pet care. Samantha is the owner of the company and she was extremely helpful and immediately made me feel comfortable. I was introduced to Dawn who lived in my area and she would be caring for my pets. Dawn came over to my home to meet me and was immediately comfortable with my animals and they both in return were comfortable with her. I had met with another petsitter from another company and was turned off because she seemed afraid of my dog. Mind you that I have a Sheltie and he is anything from scary.Dawn came to my house for the weekend and stayed with my pets and called me to tell me a very funny story about how much fun she was having with them. She also left me a note that said what they did everyday. I LOVED THAT. This is a small pet service and you can trust that they will take great care of your pets. I am so grateful that I found Dawn and Samantha!

Doggie Bliss is a family-run and operated business born out of pure love and compassion for animals. In 2010, owner Shannon Hill, along with her partner and two Boston Terriers, travelled cross-county from New York. She told herself that she’d only stay out in Santa Monica for a year, but soon began to fall in love with everything: the palm trees, the ocean, the sun, and most of all, the dogs…so many DOGS!!! Not only were the dogs amazing, but the way their owners took care of them was truly admirable. She began dog walking and pet sitting as a part time job, but soon realized that caring for animals full-time was destined to be her career. Shannon started Doggie Bliss as a one-woman operation, and has organically grown the business into what it is today.
Originally from New York, Shannon has been working with animals professionally for over 20 years. She has a deep love and passion for animals, which has been with her since a very young age. At five years old, when asked “what do you want to be when you grow up?” Shannon quickly answered “I want to own a puppy store!” – (not knowing the moral implications of course!) Her favorite place to go as a child was a local, family-owned pet store, which she later managed for many years, while earning a double bachelor’s degree in Global Studies and Women’s Studies. After moving to California to discover and follow her dreams, Shannon realized that her real dream was always right in front of her. She was destined to start a pet care business, and her years of experience in both animal care and customer service would allow her to achieve this goal with ease. In 2010, Doggie Bliss was born, and Shannon has never looked back! In her downtime, you can find her loving life and living it to the fullest with her wife, Kat, daughter, Skye, and two kitties, Chaplin and Willow.

We firmly believe that private walks are safer, and all dogs get more out of the individual attention that private dog walking provides.
